Congrats. I didn't think the odds were so slim. Hm. I got one this season as well. I hope for a few more, but time will tell. I think my SS came on the 3rd egg. from my snow x snow pairing. Both are pure white with black spots; the female is hypo. The mack hatchlings that I've gotten are pure white as well. I've never really heard the difference between line bred and mack snows having slim chances of SS; I agree with Nicholas that it sounds crazy, but I'm not too great with genetics. I also didn't think that TUG snow was different than regular snows, just bred via selective breeding; I thought they were given the name to just distinguish them from other snows like how Kelli has the electric tang to distinguish from general tangs.

Thanks Emily and Whitney :)

I didn't realize the odds were so slim either at first. We have another Mack Snow female that didn't lay this year, so she could have produced some SS for us, but we'll have to wait for next year for that ;) We didn't think we would get any this year at all, so this was definitely a nice surprise!

I really love the hypo in Mack Snows, so that is awesome :main_thumbsup: I have seen a few of your hatchlings and they are all very beautiful too :) I don't think any of our females are Hypo, but our Line Bred Snow does have reduced spotting that seems to be passing onto the offspring. The Super Snow should definitely be interesting as it develops :)

I didn't think any of the Snows were different until I found these forums and heard other people saying that the genetics just weren't the same. The most interesting thing to me is that the only Snows that create Supers when bred to eachother are the Macks. Two Line Breds do not make Supers, two Gem Snows supposedly do not make Supers, and so on and so forth.
