We will be adding a Leopard Gecko Morph Guide to the site in the near future. What I am wanting to know is would you prefer a "Wikipedia" type system, which would be set up as a forum and will look similar to this:

It would depend upon how the information was submitted to the morph guide. Would anyone have the ability to add content or would it be restricted to a select few or a single person.

We could set it up however we wanted to. Everyone could have editing abilities or only certain usergroups could.

The next question I have is this: If we do decide to go with the website pages rather than the Wiki type for the Morph Guide, would you guys be interested in me installing a Wiki here to use for other purposes?

See I personally like Wiki style pages. I use them for almost all of my gaming sites are in that style. I love Wiki's in general. I think it could be a great way to put a breeder list or general information sharing.

I do believe that the Morph Guide should have some sort of restrictions to it though. We have seen at the Leo Wiki that with anyone being able to post whatever they want there are many "morphs" that aren't really morphs.

Agreed! Maybe either set it up with a mod approved button so a mod has to approve it to get posted or a vote. Otherwise it'll be a mess and maybe information being posted that's not needed.

I agree, I think added info should be approved first, otherwise who knows what could be added.

I voted for the web site style too, it looks a lot more interactive.

the reason why i like the website is because it looks much better but it doesnt look like leopardgecko wiki. i hate that place and how it is set up. too jumbled in my opinion and very inaccurate info

I'm new, so it really isn't my place to say one way or the other. But, I'm fine with however you want to do it Kelli. Afterall, you know best... :D. Though, I do agree the webpage format looks nice and appears to keep the overall appearance of GeckoForums. I also agree that it should have restrictions toward the ability of others to edit/add information. I think if just anyone has freedom to change it, that it'll eventually be riddled with inaccurate information. If someone thinks something should be added, then the add on should be reviewed by Mods/Admins/etc... before posting. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents worth. Thanks for the great site, and for asking our opinion...that's awesome!

Coming from the standpoint of one who knows next to nothing about leo morphs, I prefer the webpage design. I like that there are photos for each of the individual morphs then a link to click read more. That way, if I see a picture of a leo I like but I'm unsure of the morph, I can take a quick look through the visuals instead of click every heading to figure out which one it is.
And it can be used for the same purpose when I decide to get a leo. I can look through the pictures and see what morphs I like best, then read more about them, to decide which one I want to purchase (makes deciding a little easier, you know what I mean?)

I like the web style as well because of the reasons already mentioned about the wiki style. Too much user info will ruin the intended purpose of having a morph guide. I think it should be factual as to each morphs standard of perfection and not some one's opinion, preferably in alphabetical order. I think the membership should be able to add to what is there in the web page by say maybe adding they're own pix of the same morph just to show variations of that morph with admin approval, but that's about it, you wouldn't wnat it to turn into another "show off your leo" thing.

Website, we already have a wiki about leos...and pics at start of any morphs are really cool.
EDIT need to be voted and only some people can do that(in my opinion of course)

KelliH, by the way, really good idea about a Morph guide on forum, will turn it more complete. +1

:)

+1 on the website...........i think it would look much better corresponding with the forum, and not looking like others..............this site the best for a reason :)...........and all info provided should definably be screened,by a team.......so much misleading info out there its sicking,i see it even more in the fishy world.........the webs great, but not so great at times also......excellent idea on the sites morph guide Kelli...........
