Will the different morphs have info on producing them? Like what pairings to use in order to achieve that specific morph? That would be cool in my opinion.
I like the web style format. With regards to information and different morphs it would be really nice to have some kind of universal standard for outstanding examples of 'X' morph accepted and approved by some kind of counsel or committee. Line breeds like Emeries etc. must first be approved by this group to be accepted as a new legitimate and clearly distinguishable line breed.
There are just to many people coming up with 'projects' to clearly distinguish one from another. Line bred geckos should only have specific names once several years on breeding and clearly noticeable characteristics can be seen.
Unproven traits or genetics like the one that just recently showed up in Japan will be excluded until clearly proven genetics or traits can be reproduced without question.
We need a set universal standard for the future of leopard geckos and the many morphs.
I would agree with using the web format because the people who will be using it will be newbs moreso than people who already have a good grasp of genetics. with the pictures upfront all those who want to know what they have will be able to compare their animal to the picture then bring up info on the morph. It may cut down on the number of "what do I have?" questions. I also agree that content will have to be mod approved before being posted to avoid a mass of duplicate or bad information.
I like the web gallery style above, but would love something along the lines of a decision tree for those of us with no experience figuring out what we have.
Also, a wiki would be very handy for compiling the FAQ/sticky posts into a gecko keepers guide.
I think the website format is more user friendly, and I have a suggestion about Wiki content to go with it...
Perhaps once you click on the article about a particular morph, there could be links back to threads throughout the history of GF that are related to the subject. You could arrange these threads/links in a Wiki-like format.
This would be a good hybrid usage plan, without looking too much like a Wiki as well as being super-snazzy-functional. =D
