I have I have a leo setup I use a red light instead of regular light but I never see my leos during night or day they never come out why could they not wanna come out
How many do you have in what size cage and how long have you had them? I ask because new leos and young leos may spend all their time in their hides for self preservation. Some leos are bothered by the lights; they are nocturnal and don't really need lights. The cage might also be big and overwhelming to them or too small.
i have a question for you why do you speak in run-on sentences and give us next to no information about your gecko we arent telepathic and there could be something wrong with your gecko or your set up so why dont you tell us a bit more then maybe we can help you and also please use periods every now in then kkthxbaittylomglolwtfsrslynorlyyarlyomgkk.
Ok since instead of getting some help ill just leave this forum I thought forums are meant to help and ask questions not for people to critisize other people and if I wanted to put periods in my sentence I would have I'm not trying to write an essay for a grade or something I graduated school awhile ago thanks for the help all you had to do was say what the first person said a few ways to help she had enough info to go by so hopefully next time you'll be considerent to the next new person who is new asking questions remember not everyone is as knowledgeable as some of you
redsman, please don't leave this forum. there is a lot of help for you here and plenty of people willing to help. aside from the whole punctuation thing (which is silly but it would make it a little easier to read your posts if you at least used periods to end your sentences, its just a friendly tip on my end). anyways, aside from that, bennayboi made a good point that we are going to need a little bit more info about your gecko and its enclosure to give you the best answer we can.
for example:
what are the temperatures on the hot side? cool side?
and what are you using as heat source? (UTH, lamp, etc)
how many hides do you have? (there should be one cool, one warm, one moist)
what are you feeding and how often? any supplements?
is there fresh water available and pure calcium available in bowls at all times?
how old is your leo(s) and how long have you had them and where did you get them from?
do they look healthy with chubby tails?
these are just some general things we like to know because when it comes to reptiles, if anything goes wrong with them, the majority of the time it is a husbandry issue. we just need a little bit more info than "my geckos never come out of their hides". we want to help you, i promise. dont leave a perfectly good forum (and i promise you, this IS a GOOD forum, i am on three forum sites and this one by far is the most active with the best info) just because somebody came off rude
bennayboi, dont be rude to him, he is a newbie and obviously didnt know he needed to provide more info. and dont be rude just bc he doesnt write posts how you think he should with all proper punctuation and whatever, just ask him nicely to use periods or something.
anyways, sorry redsman, i hope you change your mind, and if you give us some more info, we can probably answer your question with no problem.
Sorry should have included that. I have a heat lamp. Two leos pretty much hatchlings don't have any spots. I purchased them from ******** about a week ago.also one is anemalistic (how ever you spell that)and one regular or normal
What are your temps and how do you measure them?
What substrate are you using?
Its normal for leopard geckos to hide nearly 24/7 especially as babies. Once theyre older and assuming their healthy theyll come out and explore sometimes during the night.
k so you have one warm hide, one cool hide. make sure you also have a moist hide, which is a hide (usually tupperware or something from a petstore) that has moss or papertowels in it that you can mist daily or every other day to keep it humid inside of that hide. this will help them out a lot when they shed so they dont loose any toes from stuck shed.
to answer your original question....young leos and leos that were just brought home (for you its been a week i think i saw?), it is normal for them to hide bc they are stressed from the change in environment and are scared. give them time to adjust to the surroundings. also, stick your hand in there once or twice a day to get them used to your smell and your hand. eventually they will tame up and be less shy.
and ditto on bennayboi....temps? and how do you measure them?
oh i think you were posting same time as me. lol. are your thermometers digital with probes? or are they the round kind? the round kind have been known to be off by as much as 10 degrees (or more!). there is a great thermometer at walmart for like $11 that is digital and has a probe. it also reads the humidity, which is another environmental factor you will want to watch.
i cant find a link on walmart website to the one i bought but here is another one i found
As of right now two normals 1 het for albino 1 piebald and 1 pastel and hopefully next week another one of a different morph. But I may get a morph or two leo's we have a exotic animal show going on next week so I may buy something there
