The wait for eggs to hatch is killing me and I handled them as little as possible but the incubator has plastic on the top where you can look through and i shine a light in there all the time to watch it and I've held the egg like three times.

I really hate this incubation thing, i always feel like i've done something to kill them and maybe they won't hatch
I've had around 10-12 eggs now since may 10th and nothing to show for it
they all either died or are still in the incubator and it's killing me!!!!
I actually have 4 in the incubator that are fertile, now whether they are dead or not I don't know they were all layed after the middle of june, 1 beginning of July

the incubator is ay 88-89

I don't mind them not hatching but it kills me to know that it was alive and my esitmated hatch date was last week or today and nothing, no sweat, no swelling, and i don't want to handle it anymore sincei i just found out candling and handling even if for a short moment can kill it X(
that I might have killed it...

Its still hard, and solid white, and i can't really candle it anymore, it's not letting light through (last time i checked, like thursday) and i don't want to take it out of the incubator

I've been reading here and I just can't get my questions answered
How big are normal eggs before the hatch?
How short of a period of time will they sweat before hatching?
Do they swell a few hours before hatching or a week before?
Is it a signifcant difference, like right before they hatch or is that enlargment different?
How can you tell if the egg is still good if you know if was fertile and was alive?

Whats the longest you've seen an egg go..at 88-89-90 degrees ( stupid hovabator isn't excellant at that but they are slow changes)

Please help me :(

I had a fully formed baby and it was a week over due and I pipped it and it was dead, FULLY FORMEDDDDDD :( I don't want to have that happen again especially if I caused it

and how on earth can these stupid things hatch in the wild if they are so darn fragile!!!!????

and there not stupid its just frustrating because I love them so much I don't want to be my own demise ya know

oh and there is no denting on any of these eggs

I've heard many people say in here that they are anywhere from 2grams to 6 grams.

The eggs usually start to sweat a few hours before the hatchling starts trying to poke through. here is a thread on this forum that addresses this egg sweating. http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=43552

Do they swell a few hours before hatching or a week before?
If you look on this website: http://www.fallenangelgeckos.com/care.html they have a picture of an egg that is 39 days old vs 12 hour old ones. "The size of the egg will also change as they get closer to hatching. The egg will grow larger gradually at first, then doubling its size when it is in its last week before hatching"

Is it a signifcant difference, like right before they hatch or is that enlargment different? I'm not sure about this answer sorry!

How can you tell if the egg is still good if you know if was fertile and was alive? I'm not sure how to check other than candling sorry!

Hope this helps!
:)

I have had tremendous variability with my eggs. Very few of mine have noticeably sweated. Some have dented for a week or more and gotten to the point where I was sure they were bad and then hatched. Others have looked the same the entire period and then hatched almost as a surprise. Last season I had a number of "dead in the egg" and dead just out of the egg and I have no idea why. At 82-83 degrees, my eggs are taking 7-8 weeks to hatch. I don't know the time at your temp. Your best bet is to not even candle the eggs. Just put them in the incubator, open the containers weekly briefly for air exchange and don't handle them. I also get antsy about when they're going to hatch and here's what I do: I record in my "journal" each clutch by female's initial and clutch number on the date it's laid. Then, evey evening in the margin I record for each clutch the number of weeks and days since it's been laid (e.g. 4.2=4 weeks 2 days). This lets me obsess over the incubation time without touching the eggs. There are endless things you can record in a journal. The more you need to obsess, the more you can record. Then you just wait for the eggs to hatch. I have had seasons where 50% or more of the eggs have gone bad and I don't know why this season has been so much different.

Good luck,

Aliza

all I want is just 1 successful egg and no dead babies, I'd break too see another dead one... :(

But good idea about the journaling.....I just hope it's still alive and going to hatch....

I'm having this same problem, Haley.
I currently have had an egg sweating since Last Thursday, and I'm losing hope. I also haven't hatched anything yet.

I've given up hope for a couple of our eggs as well, but I still check every day when I get home from work, before I go to bed, and when I get up. We have had some good and some bad this season. I know it can be frustrating. You are not the only one who has felt like maybe scrapping the whole idea because you feel like you are not good at it. Being patient can be very hard. Good Luck!

I don'ot think i could give up even if I wanted too, i love them too much XD
at least it's not like my friend who had a clutch of cornsnakes of which none would eat and they force fed them for 9 months and finally they ate on there own and then all died

Out of, I'd say a total of maybe 16 eggs laid this season between 3 females, 13 were fertile, and 3 were infertile.
The infertile ones we only incubated for MAYBE 2 days because that's ALL it took for them to start stinking BAD.

One of our fertile eggs died by becoming COMPLETELY engulfed in mold.
It started with a little mold, so we took care of it.
Then it COMPLETELY molded over night.

If the eggs were dead or bad, wouldn't they start to stink or mold? Or dent in?
Or give SOME sign that nothing was alive within the egg??

Thats what i was thinking as well so I'm still having hope

but I also know that some infertile eggs can look white and plump the whole time but really are just empty shells

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it hatches, hoping so much it hatches

Well it's almost a week after it started sweating, and now there is a small dent in the side.
Still nothing.

any change in your egg? mine still hasn't hatched and I fear I killed them but I had no choice, we were moving and it was like the last thing to move and I drove the 5 mins to my work and in that time the temp. went from 100 because of the sun ( b/c someone helping us move didn't understand we needed to leave immeaditly and I couldn't open my car door even if my hands weren't full(broken) and so of course she chats with him and it shoots up to a hundred I blame the guy for killing my eggs and my parents for making us move, and my leos for there impeccible timing, lol) it's just so frustrating
the one egg I though was supposed to hatch already kind of swelled and then got tan and is no longer pearly white.... I'm 95% there is something in there and that it is now dead , 2 are supposed to hatch Monday so I just hope
