Am I a freak or something!?

Each time I tell someone I own/ live with a Leopard Gecko, Dog, Cat and 3 birds (most adopted/rescue types situations) I get the weirdest looks from people as if something is wrong with me. Sorry I have a caring heart and LOVE ALL ANIMALS! GOSH! And I hate when people come over and tell me "Oh my you have all these animals and your house doesn't smell and it's so clean." I'm like umm I didn't know it was suppose to smell if I had pets because I know how to CLEAN and do it on a DAILY BASIS!

What the hell is wrong with people? Or is there something wrong with me for loving all these animals and wanting them around me?

I know how that is. everyone i know is like how to do you take care of all the animals you have and they think they are all dirty its like no they aren't yes our room isn't the cleanest but when it leads to the backyard where the dogs are and its completely dirt its going to get dirty fast and lots of dust in here i can't keep it away whatsoever i try but no success and we have one room its cluttered but if we had our own house that would be different it would be really clean and not cluttered and always a wreck.

I get comments all the time from people that my house smells like bleach.. I can't tell if thats a bad thing or not.. I love animals.. And I would have more.. but yes people look at me wierd too.. they just dont understand.

But I love animals so when people tell me they have a house full of animals I'm like; "CAN I COME OVER AND HUG THEM????" lol

In my opinion, if a person doesn't even like ONE sort of animal, they shouldn't be trusted. >.> But that's just me.

exactly. i wish i could have more but unfortunately i cant get no more dogs because of the county ordiance. and i can only add so many geckos lol i can get more fish but not much luck with them and one bird is enough when its in the same room as us lol hes annoying at times sometimes hes funny with his antics but sometimes just plain annoying. i wish my room would be cleaner but with 4 beagles its near impossible.

I think it's funny what these non animal lovers assume when you tell them about all the animals you have. I think most of them picture animal hoarders or a bunch of dirty animals running around in a disgusting, smelly house.
We have about 40 pets (mostly ball pythons and leos) but when you walk in our house you would never even know that we had anything but 2 dogs, 2 cats and fish (some people probably think even that's too much!) and that's because they are hard to miss. Unless we show them or tell them about the reptiles, a guest in our house would have no idea they were even there!
We also take the time to make sure our house stays clean, fresh and free of doggy odor!

I have 3 dogs, 3 hermit crabs, 7 leos, 1 hedgehog, 1 cat, 1 skunk and 3 kids imagine the looks I get espically when it comes to Thumper the skunk. I would have more animals if my hubby would allow it.

To answer your question, what the hell is wrong with people? Well, my theory is.. the majority of them are either 1) idiots, or 2) too judgemental (and then of course 3 - a little of both).

A very big problem with the U.S. is that the people with lower IQs are also the people that have 4-5 children; whereas, the people with higher-than-average IQs tend to only have 1 or 2 children. True stuff.. We're doomed!! But that's why it's also important not to always take life too seriously, & always find a way to smile and laugh it's the only thing that keeps me sane on some days.

I have a house full of snakes and lizards and spiders (oh my) and people remark how they don't smell anything when they come over.
And just 'cause raising reptiles and inverts wasn't quite weird enough, to earn a living, I'm a body wrangler. (Yes, I can honestly say I see dead people.)

According to the neighborhood gossip, I harvest corpses and I have an 18 foot long albino spitting cobra running loose in my house.:main_rolleyes:
