I looked for these for over a year just for that reason. The western plains don't hood up like these guys do.

I love how hoggies bluff, but these guys take it to a whole new level compared to their closely related Plains.

I paid under 200 for each and they are PROVEN BREEDERS!!! :main_thumbsup:

These are Mexicans and are harder to find for sale than the Plains, so I know I got a pretty good deal.

Plains (Heterodon n. nasicus) are the "Westerns" that you see every where but the Mexicans (Heterodon n. kennerlyi) and Plains are both "westerns", but are different sub-species. The noticible diffence are in the scales on the head. You can see the difference in them here.

The Mexican and the Plains (aka Western's) are actually both Westerns just two different sub-species. But to answer your questions, the Mexican's do bluff (hood up, puff up to look bigger an hiss) a lot more than the Plains.
