Any Popular Places To Buy Heat Tape?

During this recent storm, something went wrong with all my heat lamps, like they blew out and won't work. I have no access to my savings, since I had a few urgent emergencies and had to withdraw my max of 4 times this month. And lately, for the past 2 weeks, it has been 40-60 degrees outside, and my room is probably the same or a little warmer, since it is still in a house. So I have 12+ geckos without heat sources and 2 tortoises. I put the tortoises in the incubator, since they showed to be dying in the cold temps. The leos are still active and acting the same...eating and stuff, but I know it isn't good for them to be cold.

You know if Lowes or any other hardware store sales heat tape? Wal-Mart or someplace? I get paid in two weeks....I have a paycheck once a month...which sucks. And right now, I do not have the money to spend $30 per heat lamp..which is unbelivable. And once I get paid, heat mats or lamps for everyone!!! This really wasn't expected....the heat lamp failure and the cold weather....it is just early September....feels like November or December...no sun or nothing...:(

Also, how much will it be?

Wow... Talk about the worst timing!
Try contacting Lowes or Home Depot to check on heat tape. If you have an RV dealership around, they usually carry tape, too.
Best of luck! We'll be rooting for you!

Wow, sorry to hear about your problem.
I would dig out the phone book and do some calling to see if I
could find something.
In the mean time, you could use any 50 or 75W bulb durring the daytime so they have at least some warmth. Just make sure to regulate it somehow so it doesnt get to hot.

Seems like you might want to get an electric space heater. It would be a cheap way to get your room a good several degrees warmer, which would make a big difference in survivability. I don't know what your situation is, but if you can scrounge up heating blankets, heating pads, etc., any of those can be used to warm up your tanks... just use a lot of caution to make sure they don't get too hot.

In a pinch, you might put some closed bottles of warm water in the tanks as a heat source.

The tortoises were sulcatta and leopard tortoises. They were doing really bad in the cold.

But I will try the heat blankets, water bottles, and stuff.

If you have a heat blanket, maybe you could kind of wrap it around your terrariums? :main_huh:

I think your cheapest way of heating all those reptiles is to buy a room heater. They are about $15-$30 for a medium sized one at walmart. They should be good enough till you get paid.

You'll still need belly heat for the geckos. Reptile Basics sells heat tape, and they'll even attach the cords for you for free.
