Kevin,

I have to disagree with you. Not ALL big box store employees are the same.
While most employees really DON'T know what they're talking about, there are some of us, such as myself, (Yes, I work at a chain pet store) that actually care about what we're doing and what we're telling customers. It's rather offensive that everyone bunches us all together..

Generally, I think, what people mean to say is that the big chain stores' lack of employee training is the problem. Not the employees themselves. If they gave proper training, the employees would ALL be as knowledgeable as the educated few there are.

Im sorry that you find it offensive, but unfortunately that is just how it is. Almost every employee I have run into at these chain stores is extremely uneducated and ignorant. And while it may not be their fault, due to improper training... they could learn things on their own and not be so ignorant. But that is not the issue here. The issue is that there is just a slight few, such as yourself Kitsune, that knows what they are talking about. And I have talked to a few myself. But as a general whole... I would bunch them all together as not knowing what they are talking about.... that is what people do. They group. It is a very natural human ability that sets us apart from other animals. Cant help it.

Sorry about that, I wasn't directing it at the employees. My main point was that the chain stores are all the same store with a different product. The bottom line is markup and turnover, and it's unfortunate when the product is an animal that is poorly cared for.

I'm sure there are exceptions, and it's nice to hear from one. I didn't mean to offend.

Of the 3 pet stores that I frequent only 1 of them does anything that I recommend and I think it is only because I only talk to one employee and she listens and then passes my info on to others.

The other 2 the owners are kind of set in their ways and do not want to change, they take my suggestions but do not always act upon them.

Its horrible when an owner/employee/manager asks you to leave for giving valid advice. Word of mouth travels fast, if that lady has any common sense she should of left too when you were asked to leave and talked to you in the parking lot about their care.
