Has anyone ever experienced a Leo, of any type, that never became friendly? that always had a level of aggression?

I never had or seen an aggressive adult leos, many spooky ones but not aggressive.. Babies however, I have seen a few nippy babies but their just babies, my baby albino vibrated his tail and hissed at me last night, first time he has ever done that but still very young.

I have a Adult Male Blizzard, he does not seem to like anyone, if I move around his tank much he starts doing a threatening "lunge" like he wants to bite me but does not get that close. and he sits in a defensive posture while I am cleaning and changing water and wags his tail high in the air in a slow movement
He is realatively new to me, about a week, but just does not seem to be warming up so I just wondered if anyone had ever experienced an ill tempered one like I have heard about in other species

blizzards can be quite a handful sometimes. more aggressive and just generally a bad attitude. i have even experienced this with het blizzards as well.
although i do have a female super hypo tangerine that is crazy and she will try to bite and roll on you (like the crocodile death roll) lol its rather funny but if she got a hold of you she could bite you pretty good.

My male blizzard is pretty spooky but never tries to bite. Never seen a leo that tries to attack you lol.. If its aggressive chances are its never really been handled so still sees you as a threat..

with blizzards it can be quite different than them just not being handled. some are just nasty nasty no matter what. someone once told me of a blizzard male of theirs which would attack him. at one point this geckos got out of its enclosure and actually chased and charged him, into a corner, across the room.
now i have not had a blizzard that aggressive but blizzards are known for their nasty temperaments. i have had many that would try to bite you if you tried to pick them up or when you messed around in their enclosure.

From what I've heard; many people believe Blizzards to be more "aggressive", than other morphs. Mine aren't that way at all. In fact, my adult female is the sweetest of my brood. She loves being handled and sit in the lip of my shirt while I watch tv for hours at times.if it's new thats most likely the issue. It's not used to your scent and appearence and will take some time to adjust. A good rule of thumb is to give them two weeks before handling them. Wait until they are used to their enclosure; IE - not hiding as much and exploring more often. Giants tend to be very calm due their large size and less fear of larger animals. Let him chill and he might come around. Some just stay crazy so wait and see what happens.

Good luck.

Huh thats odd, I cant figure out how a morph can affect the temperment?. I have heard people say albinos can be more aggressive because they cant see well but never seen much to prove that.. I know my male blizzard wasnt handled alot, he is quite spooky but never bites..

i dont know if it has to do with the amount of inbreeding or just that for whatever reason they have nasty temperaments but i have also had outcrossed het blizzard that were evil evil. i know allot of people that have had very nasty blizzards, quite on a consistent basis too

i know it is. marcia has some just puppy dog tames ones but i also know that she has a couple that are evil. kelli has had MANY of the evils. i mean there obviously can be nice ones but it seems they are more on the aggressive side than nice side. maybe as they are outcrossed they will become nicer?

My blizzards are very sweet, although a couple are a little 'nervous'. I did have a rescue male years ago that was a savage biter. He bit his previous owner on the end of her nose and scarred her for life, bit me on the chest while I was holding him and it bled for hours, and when I finally traded him to Julie at GeckoRanch (for a cool tangerine), he bit her on the web of her hand which actually required stitches. In over 12 years working with leopard geckos, I have never seen one that thought he was a Tokay like this fellow.

Ok well thanks guys - I guess my next question would be in the aggressive ones does this appy only to the handlers? or to any tank mates? He of course lives alone right now because he is new plus I haven't owned them long enough to feel like I am ready to deal with breeding but somewhere down the road maybe

I've never had a problem with aggression from Fleck. There have been a few times that she will not want to be handled and backs away or wiggles; but she's never hissed or tried to bite me

I have a blizzard that is down right evil...so evil he tricked me into buying him. See, I knew about blizzards being agressive and I wasn't too keen on the idea. When I saw him, I fell in love, picked him up and he was sweet as pie. I brought him home and he's been a terror ever since. He's normally just very agressive, and makes a move to bite me about 80% of the time.

My het blizzard can be a meany when in the mood too, but not as bad as my blizzard boy.

I have another gecko - Ozzy - that I got from a former breeder who said he was horribly aggresive. He would tear a chunk out of them on a regular basis, including 3 days before he was sent to me. He has NEVER acted agressive towards me or my husband. They were afraid of him, but said he was ok with the females during breeding. I can't say how he is, as I haven't breed him myself.

I just got nailed last week by one of my SHT males..... worst one yet of the 4 males that have bitten me in my time....but luckily didn't need stitches.... He has always been a bit "nervous" since the day I hatched him 3 years ago, but I had just held him and then needed to reach into his enclosure for something I looked away for a second and WHAM....bleed for a few hours ...etc.. I know the routine.... It is healing now, but I have to be more careful around him.

WOW I have been bitten twice full on by my 62g male, and it didn't even break the skin or hurt at all it was like being flicked. Is it normal for them to bite that bad or is that just your monster lol?

I have gotten a few good bites from leos that drew blood, nothing that bad though. I will take a leo bite over a tokay bite anyday, watch now I say that, I will get nailed by one of my tokays lol.
