So, I've been begging for Leachies for a very long time and Keith finally gave in so here they are! They hatched yesterday, I'm amazed at how big they are...

Thanks everyone. The crazy thing is that the eggs were the same size a leo eggs. I don't know how the heck they grow that big in such a tiny egg!

Wow, wouldn't have guessed that. That is pretty crazy. You know it's a good thing I'm allergic to these guys, or I might be buying more geckos we don't really need haha.

They're actually just in critter keepers with fake plants and jungle vine right now since they're babies. Once they get a little bigger they'll be moving to Exo-Terra terrariums. I'll be sure to post pictures of their new set ups in a couple of months.

Congrats Mel & Keith. Leachianus would be quite addictive, except for their need for vast enclosures. Now here's a few questions:

You don't house them together do you?
You saw their egg shells and they looked the size of leopards? Wow, my 90g Nuu Ami female must throw huge ones, as her's are easily twice the size of a crested egg and still much larger than a leopards.
Any locality info?

Good luck with them!

They're housed separately. We keep all of our 200+ geckos housed individually.:rolleyes5: They are Nuu Ana and the eggs were about 3 times the size of crested eggs, but about the same size as most of our leopard eggs. I don't know, maybe since we breed a lot of giants ad super giants I'm used to seeing extra large leo eggs? I do have a feeling that you're totally right about them being addictive though! How can you not fall in love with ll of those wrinkles?

Thanks for the info. Not very often you hear people these days keeping their animals in their own cages, but I feel it is necessary/recommendable for many species. It probably is the case that you're so used to seeing those "giant" (Leo) eggs, that the giant eggs actually seem comparable in size. Good luck with trying to keep your addiction tamed, its hard!
