Ok, so the story doesnt end very badly, but let me just tell you how livid I was with UPS!

So, I adopted a new leo from Maurice from Sunrise Reptiles =] And she was to come in today. I requested that she be shipped to my work (I work at an animal hosp.) just because I enjoy working the morning shift. (And it is a good thing I did- I will tell you why in a minute).

So, She was shipped UPS next day air- suppose to be in BY 1030AM. The last time I had a leo shipped, they came in around 10AM, so I was anticipating her to arrive at that time.

10AM I began to get a little worried.
1030AM I was very worried!
1045AM I contacted UPS to see where the leo was! They said they would contact the driver and let them know that there was a live animal in the package and see what they could do to get it in pronto.
1130AM I was contacted by UPS to let me know that she was in Gainesville! And a supervisor would be bringing her up here. I was pretty mad at the time and the woman on the phone had the adacity to say, " Im sorry for the inconvience". I was like, "oh its not an inconvenience. I am just worried for the poor animals sake. Its suffering and I really hope she is still alive when I get her". The woman than said, "well, does an hour really matter?" (Can you believe this). I said, "Its been more than an hour and yes, it does matter! A box is not an ideal condition for a leopard gecko, who requires specific temperatures and general husbandry. So therefore I need her out of the box asap!" I couldnt believe she had actually said that.

Anyways, long story short. She finally arrived around 1pm happy and healthy and beautiful! Thank goodness.

Oh, and it is a good thing she was shipped to my work because I would have had to leave my house by 12 to make it to work on time if I had switched to the afternoon shift.
Thank you Maurice! =]

I'm glad she arrived safely. I've had a couple of nailbiters, but everyone has been safe. I ship one out tomorrow.

Yeah, this was my first negative experioence. What a crappy experience it was!

Maybe it would have been different if it were a residence? It would probably be a different route driver I'm sure. We can make guesses at reasons, and who knows if they're right. All I know is I'm so happy she made it OK!

You're Very Welcome, Melanie! :)

Maurice, like you said it probably would have been different if shipping to a residence or a business that had regular pickup. Businesses that don't have regular pickup/drop off don't have a regular driver, it's probably deliver at the convince of the driver, who obviously didn't notice that there was a time delivery on the package. I've had reptiles shipped to my work without any problems with UPS and Fedex, but we have regular pick up, and both carriers are here by 11 at the latest, but around 10:30 on average.

You can definitely request your shipping refund since they guarantee time, and didn't make that time.

The business that I work at does have regular pickup. We have a UPS driver there just about everyday because we order supplies that come shipped in the mail. But as the lady on the phone explained to me, the package wouldnt have been on the truck that came that morning anyways because it came from a different location and it was shipped next day, while the packages that did come earlier were shipped regularly.
And not only that, but my residence is in the middle of BFE. It is really hard to get delivery people to come out there period! So, I figured being in the middle of surbubia (at my work) would work out just a little bit better anyways.
