This is just amzaing me how the enigma genes are behaving with my BB X Enigma project. For some reason it just doesn't want to work anymore.

Luckily I did get a Blazing Enigma out of this combo so far but now the total is 5 dead Enigma het for tremper and blizzard and 9 normals dead, it is very weird :(

I'm glad I have a strong stomach because I kind of just clicked on this without regard to the "nasty pics" warning! This is very saddening, I'm so terribly sorry to hear about your babies!! :bigcry:

But on a positive note, at least you have one healthy little baby!

Very strange...

Those babies do not even look mature or well enough to hatch out of the egg themselves?? Weird... (well the third one does) Hopefully your luck gets better!

We've had a bad pairing before, no Enigma genes though, it's very sad. Sometimes nature just doesn't agree with us. I hope your other pairings have far better results.

Poor lil things, but then again, mother nature has obviously done this for a reason?!

Are you gonna continue trying with this project?

Well, the thing is that I have 1 blazing enigma and ray hine was able to tell me that it was a male with his special magnifying glass with built in light. This makes me very happy but the BB females just keep on laying eggs so I can't really abort the project.

I guess that they are just not meant to stay alive for some strange reason.

I really don't know, maybe the genes just don't mix everytime. I have no clue.

If thats the case, than Alberto or other BB x enigma breeders will have noticed the same things.

Are the BB females young?
Is this their first season?

I have hatched 100% of my viable Enigma X BB eggs, so it doesn't sound like another enigma lynch mob story to me.

I suspect that either your male enigma isn't fully ready to breed, your females are having issues or possibly your incubation medium is a bit to damp. I started running my medium drier for my enigma eggs after loosing a few early on and my results are 100% hatchrate in the last 3 months thus far.

well, then tell me why is it that all my other eggs hatch fine and I'm getting Enigma's and normals but it's only out of this combo that the hatchlings either die just after popping out the egg, after hatching or the egg collapses prior to hatching?

The female are laying for their first time and so are many others and they have no problems at all. I have heard many stoies about the enigma's yesterday at the reptile show in holland and not everyone is having such a succes with them. Alot of deformities and hatchlings not wanting to eat.

I don't want this thread to turn into an arguement, so with that said..

Many variable can cause such a thing..

I have a 2nd year jungle giant who was bred at 105 grams and she has laid 13 clutches in 2 years and one egg has hatched thus far. She is a bad breeder and is a pet after this year. No enigma cross there.

Like I said, I was finding that .8:1 (and supplimentation issues possibly) was causing many eggs for a few projects to go bad. I reduced t0 .7:1 and every egg hatched after that. It could have been first year breeders, weak male, suppliments or medium dampness, but I am not changing what is working now to find the cause.

many more issue can cause fetal death , but this isn't the place to write a novel(and I won't either)

Finally let's face it, some issues people may be having are from hurrying to make enigmas as fast as possible. I am not saying that you are, but I am sure some of the issues we hear about are caused by young enigmas breeding.

I am truely sorry to hear of your misfortune and hope you reach your goal and figure out the cause. I was very saddened by my early results myself, so can understand your unhappiness.

1 part medium to .7 parts water, but only in my enigma egg containers. Only slightly drier than other containers and I don't claim it's the cause of my issues early on.
