Oh man .... I had a funny feeling about this. I was concerned for him and maybe thinking of sending him a couple geckos, but then when I got the want list I had this gut feeling it was wrong. now I don't know if it is true yet but we will find out.

Excepting geckos from people willing to give him some what ever they may be to a person in need is great... but when they say geee I really appreciate your kindness but I could really use these:deal2 all these high end morphs) it starts to seem wrong to me.

WOW! I had a funny feeling about this too, based on the fact that there were nothing but "high end" morphs on the list. I would think that anyone with "high end" morphs has at least some on the other end of the spectrum; and that anyone in such bad condition would be grateful for even the more common morphs to get back on their feet in the breeding process. I admire how we pulled together none the less.

So what's the story?

The guy Tony told that his whole collection burned down and was hoping that some "friends" send him new geckos and he was hoping for high end morphs.
But fortunately Kelli told us it was wrong and saved us to send geckos to this lier...
Hope this was right...

I talked to him yesterday and he bold faced lied to me on the phone, I can't believe that. It's people like him that don't deserve to even work with these animals in my opinion. I was gonna send him some really good stuff to thanks for bringing this to light before anyone (or at least I hope before) sent him animals. On a more positive note I need to commend the entire community for coming together and offering to help a person in need even though most didn't know him. But that still pisses me off that it was a scam to get people to give up the animals they worked so hard to breed and hatch. :main_angry:

The really sad thing about all of this is that now when a genuine emergency occurs, we'll all be gun shy about the little boy who cried wolf. Shame on you, Tony. Shame on you.

But, as Cameron said, it goes to show you how many good people there are out there who were willing to bend over backwards to get a potential friend in need some geckos. Kudos to everyone with generous hearts!

WOW...

I'm speechless right now and would like to know the complete truth.

I almost was going to send him a bunch of geckos too...I actually had a feeling that he was lying, especially after I noticed that he had lost "50+ knobtails". I asked around and NOBODY named Tony in NY has a modest collection of that many Nephrurus. I think I know all the knobtail keepers with that many geckos!

I just think that in the future people need to understand that we as a community need to verify and once confirmed that something has indeed happened then we can all move forward and try to put things together to help the person in question, but not until it has been established that they truely deserve our help.

Just when you think people can't get any lower , here comes this "Tony" with his sob story trying to scam people out of their geckos!
This really pissed me off! I actually felt sorry for the guy and was willing to do something to help him out. It really puts a strain on the word "trust" :main_angry:

So hopefully in a few weeks we can put this all behind us and move on as a closer community...
