So what do you all think about TUG's (The Urban Gecko) recent release of the Black Pearl? He purchased the entire collect from a breeder in Europe and now he's got offsprings (limted) available.

I just checked their website.....very impressive collect. Can't wait to see where this morph will go.

I'm confused and it's not about genetics... :main_lipsrsealed:

They are lovely though and I hope to "work" with them someday...

I personally don't believe that it's a 3k morph. The genetics are sketchy at best. please refer back to the Enigma post. I don't want to do the leg work for any other breeder out there. Not my cup of tea. But if other people want to do it more power to them as the person that's really making out would be the people selling off something unproven. Just my opinion.

I think Craig at TUG is a great breeder and has some outstanding specimens available and in his collect. I don't think that he would sell anything that is not proven.

That's the great beauty of this hobby/business, there is countless morphs that can be created, one is only limited to their own resources ($$ and time to just name the two). Just imagine the next BIG thing to hit this hobby.....an Emerald colored morph......we already have folks working on it......so the Black Pearl is the most recent to hit the market.

Of course as a business, you have to make a profit to stay in business and with a new morph, you command top dollar.

Finally Craig made them public. I thought he never would, well I am lucky enough to have a husband that spends a ridiculous amount on his hobby (collecting guns) so he doesn't mind every once in a while spending ludicrous amount on mine. I was fortunate enough to be fast enough to have my pick of the litter. My new girl will be here April 9th. I am so excited. Craig gurantees they are a genetic morph either co dom or recessive and he is one of the best in the business so I am trusting that this will be a huge thing for the leo industry.

Also If anyone has any opinions on what male you would think best to pair up with my girl I would most appreciate it.

Also I got permission from Craig to use the photos here. Thanks

Wow.... again, the genetics not being proven, but me (not a breeder) I would love to have them as pets. I know since they are the next big thing to hit the hobby though, that countless other people will want them more than I for breeding purposes. I would really just want one as a pet to put in with my blazing.... (SIGH) an all black and all white one in the same tank.... awesome.

Who would have thought someone would be able to do that with starting out with a male and female regular???

Wow, reading that whole story is amazing. What an interesting turn of events...

Unfortunately I won't be able to afford one any time soon... Too bad, they are absolutely stunning animals to me.

These geckos are unique in there own way but they should be more considered a chocolate pearl instead of black pearl. They do have black but still have a lot of brown on it. Heck the black color might actually be a dark brown you just may not be able to tell from the pictures. They do look cool but every morph typically does to me.

Have you looked at some of the pics from the black velvets? Some of them actually look darker then the black pearls.

It just seems wierd to me that there is two kinds of "Hyper-Melanistic" genetics and both of them are from Europe. Do you think that the orignal geckos at the zoological garden were bought too? Could they still have them and possibly have more of these dark leos? Someone else could of obtained some from them. Its just a thought but not sure if it anything much.

Alright now, I'm confused. I just went to LA websight and they still have them it says and will have them available this year???

Does anyone know if the Black Pearl and the Black Velvets to see if they are one and the same?

Any more info on the Black Pearl? LA is calling it a type of recessive.

There sweet. The genetic info on them that i read was a bit confusing as it said they are recessive. But some was labeled as black pearl and some super black pearl ?.by the look in diifferance between the two i was thinkking co-dom.But it was never really made clear about the genetics. Now there in the USA maybe more american breeders can work the genetics out for sure.

Can't wait to see a Black pearl eclipse patternless striped :main_thumbsup:.

In the link labeled as a black pearl and a super black pearl.
Id go with the (HET)form and the (HOMO)form of a Co-dom traits.
Why such a differance in a recessive trait.

I think they are being introduced too early, so I won't be spending $3000.00 until they are actually proven to be recessive or dominant. You can't have a 'super' form of anything recessive. If someone could show me a SOLID black leopard gecko with proven genetics, then I'd drop the money, but not until then. I'd also like to the the photos on a white background like all the others.
