Cool, maybe... but still a defect. Can it depend on the time in the incubator or is it genetic? Has any one seen this before?

outta my freakin mind
I have seen it in a few different animals. All, to my knowledge have had no problems. I would not label it with the term "defect", that has a harsh ring to it. Technically any mutation outside the normal parameters of the "wild type" could be considered defects.

It is something to watch. :main_yes:

They both appear to be babies. Could it just be the every changing youthful eye that will change over time? Saw something similar in a Mack that changed in time....I agree...I would not concider typing it a defect...............................................
Beautiful gecko no matter what..............take care. / HJ

I see what you are referring to... the iris appears like a triangle instead of a parallel slit. I'm not so sure I would consider it a defect at all, and as long as the little ones can see well that's what's important.

We are seeing so many 'new' eye mutations these days, that nothing worries me any more!

Wow. Awesome pattern!!! Do they eat and see well?

Reminds all too well of one of the Goniurosuarus Luii I have...(that has no issues whatsoever)

OK, thank you all. I think I can calm down now ;)

They both eat well. The Hyglo (not Bell) can miss a few times but that can depend on his albino eyes and light sensitivity.

Thanks for all nice words about the Bold. Here is a few body pics of him,

Awesome geckos! I also wouldn't consider it to be a defect. The one that I hatched sees perfectly normal and the pupil dilates normally as well. They are just the coolest looking huh?
