Bold Stripes

In the morph calculator to put in a bold stripe, would you just do normal as the primary morph and stripe as the pattern??

Bold Stripe is actually a line bred trait that carries no genetic weight on a morph calculator.

Oh ok, I was thinking about getting a nice pair of mack snow bold stripes for this season. So basically bold stripe x bold stripe, 100% bold stripe? Is bandit a certain type of bold stripe?

Bandit is its own thing. Bold stripe is actually a combination of two traits...Bold and Stripe. You can have a bold banded or just a stripe. The two of them together is when you obviously get a bold stripe. a bold stripe x bold stripe pairing will not be 100% bold stripes. You may get jungles and other patterns as well as some not really bold. A good bold stripe should be striped from head to tail (yes tail included) and have no body spotting. Kelli may have some really nice snow bold stripes (not on her site) so I would shoot her an e-mail.

personally i think the stripe gene is simple recessive however the boldness and color is polygenic.

so you can get het stripes by breeding a stripe to a normal

The Bold Stripe gene can't be recessive. I have a SSB that in no way has any Bold Stripe lines and bred it to a Bold Lavender Jungle and hatched out bandeds and the best Bold Stripe Snow Bell i've ever seen.

how then can i make het stripes and breed those banded animals together and produce stripes and jungles (which is the same gene)?

ever thought there was a possibility that ssb cam from stripe lines. meaning did you produce it and it parents. many people have been putting the stripe gene into the snows hoping for a striped super snow. also i do not think all stripe lines are simple recessive but some are, others aren't. what lines did you ssb come from?

Maybe they were both carrying the Stripe gene? Who knows. I've gotten to the point were I don't care, as long as I get pretty Stripes.

Kelli i'm with ya on that one. As long as they hold a ton of lavender and they have awesome tails I don't care to much what the "genetics" are behind them.
