A few days ago I was on another Gecko Forum & someone had a baby Gecko with something very similar to that except it was under his mouth....kinda like one of those frogs that blow themselves up. Anyway, that one didn't make it more than two or three days. A lot of people never seen that either & wasn't sure what would happen. Iam hoping yours will be okay since its in a different area (away from the head). If you see good skin underneath, I would think that would be good. I wish you the best.

Just wanted to show an updated pic of Bo, who is still doing very well, hasn't had any problems since he was a little hatchling

No kidding, he's the chunkiest one we have for his age :)

Did you ever find out exactly what that bubble was??

I was hoping we could add this to our collective knowldge base :)

I'm glad to see he not only pulled through, but turned out to be a big
healthy guy :main_yes:

All the vet said was that it could either be a ureter not emptying into the cloaca properly, a problem with the cloaca itself, or just something that once removed won't cause any problems. So I suppose in this case, we really don't know what it is.

He got it removed but there is still a slight bubble that forms when he is carrying waste. He doesn't have problems passing waste though. We didn't take him back to the vet for anymore procedures because it could have been life or death; and since he was doing okay, we didn't see the need.

One thing to keep in mind with this guy is that he hatched out this way. I figured it helps because at least we know that something like this can happen and the gecko can still live a nice healthy life. I am just so glad that he is indeed male because I think he would have some complications if he ever passed any eggs through the slight bubble that is still there.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

It's impaction caused by a hardening of the fecal matter in the intestines. I had the same thing happen to a hatchling of mine that was born without a tail. Sorry to say that it died 2 days after it reached that point. I tried to remmedy the situation, but it didn't work. The bubble is blood, and if it is still soft I would try to pop it. Don't pull on it or it will take the intestine with it.
Best of luck,
Brent
