Alright so my mother is concerned like none other and she wants me to make a post sooner then later on my gecko. He has been near death about two times now and he just can't shed correctly. The dead skin has started to get stuck in his private parts and I don't know what to do about it. And then he is almost skin and bone, I just got him to eat again. Him and Lillith are like mother and son so I don't see what is wrong with him and why he wont eat the crickets unless hand fed them. Please I need help on how to get him to be healthier.

The picures are to big to post....sorry

Knowing how he is housed would help. What is the temp? you using Under Tank Heater? using a humid hide .....ect And temps I mean how hot is it on the tank where the heat pad is not how hot the air is.

he seriously needs to see a vet because he looks to have very bad metabolic bone disease and he looks very dehydrated. he might be caring parasites, crypto and bacteria. If you dont act quick he might not be alive tomorrow.

Okay, I just read another one of your post, and I thought this after reading this post. Do you have two geckos in the same cage? If so get another cage, as each needs their own cage, when one is sick. Also wash your hands before and after handling both of them. And take fecal samples of both to the vet.

Yeah, I agree with the common concensis, take him to a vet.
Hope you can get him better soon!

OH that makes me really worried now. Both of them are in the same cage and when we first put the female in there she made sure he was doing okay and made sure he would eat...now she is lazy...But I don't know where a vet is around here that looks at reptiles.

Kat--any vet can do a fecal. Don't hesitate because he'll need medicine. Chances are the female will also need medicine because you housed them together. If you don't have another tank, get on craigslist or freecycle.org & you'll most likely have one within 24 hours for free.

Your avatar looks like he's on sand. You need to get him off that asap. This isn't a let's start another debate over sand, it's common sense. He's sick & you can't clean sand like you can paper towels.

Good luck.

If I had a gecko that sick, I would immediately buy a separate tank and heating pad so I could separate them. Then I would search for the closest reptile vet on the Internet if I couldn't get a referral either from someone on this forum or another vet in my town. Even if the closest reptile vet was an hour away, I would take both geckos in for a checkup. At the very minimum, I would talk to a reptile vet on the phone for some (free) advice.

But that's just me.

You can also use a 15gal rubbermaid, just put some holes around the top. Keep an eye on temps. Is this gecko getting supplements? Were you ready to breed these two gecko's? I may have read it wrong, but one is a male and one a female, I would hold off on breeding until both are in superb health, and you are ready to deal with eggs and such. A vet is a must for this little guy, good luck! Keep us updated.

I have found some tanks that people are willing to sell me and am deciding which one to get because I would rather have a longer one then a higher one. But he is eating and he looks a whole lot better then he did in the pictures but we have yet to get a hold of a vet. I am going to call my Uncle Dr. Paul to see if he can take a look since he has a vet, but we are not sure that he does reptiles or not. And I am in the process of changing the sand out and putting paper towels in.

Kat - any vet will do a fecal sample for you, they don't have to specialise in reptiles although if theres something wrong with him then they will be able to recommend somewhere to get him treated. My vets are usual vets, cats, dogs etc and never dealt with reptiles, they did a fecal sample on one of my Geckos and got back to me within a week with the required antibiotics etc.

Thanks, I am giving my Uncle a call right now, but I have to find his business. When I get everything done I will let everyone know.

So I have some good news, my uncle's vet takes reptiles and I have an appointment today with him at three. Just thought I would tell everyone the good news.
