Who came up with this definition?

Well i have never heard of the rule of 85% Carrot Tail being considered a "Pure CT"... but have always heard of the rule that it must be atleast 15% to be considered a CT... and i guess everyone always says that, cuz that is what it says on leopardgeckowiki.com...?

But yes, i do know why you are asking this question and your reasoning behind it... lol ...Cuz CT is actually a Morph that someone created.

There is no rule of what percentage makes a gecko a carrot tail just like there is no rule of what amount of spots makes a hypo. The orange color on true carrot tails is completely different than the orange/yellow coloring bleeding into the tail of non carrot tails. Once you have see enough geckos you can easily tell the difference between a carrot tail and a gecko with orange on it's tail.

I agree very much so. However, its almost like it has become commonly understood that the "15% rule" is what it is nowadays, lol... Kinda like the same thing of how Raptors with Patterns on them (banded/jungles/etc) are still considered Raptors, and how its "common knowledge" these days that Albino + Eclipse makes a "Raptor"... however, TECHNICALLY thats not what a raptor is. It's just a cheap shortcut to acquire the same "look"...

So yeah, many of the things that were originally made to be one way, have been "changed" nowadays, and have been accepted as otherwise... Don't ask me, i didn't make it that way, nor do i agree with it all, but in the sake of savin a huge huge overdrawn argument of differences in opinions, i, and most people, just agree and go with it... which in turn only makes it worse, and contributes to the common "misunderstanding", lol

Carrot Tail is actually a bloodline of animals that originally came in as a wild caught group and were imported to the U.K. by Ray Hine. They were not really created by anyone. There was never any "rule" about the amount of carrot tail. That's why I am curious about who came up with this rule and why. Here are some of the first Carrot Tails that came into the US. These photos are from early 2002.

Thats what i meant by that... I mean, i don't know the EXACT story, but i do know that they were originally a group of geckos that someone had and worked with after they acquired them... didn't know the guy's name, but now know him as Ray Hine. Thanks for the info! But yeah, i do remember reading this in a few different places!

It's just crazy how things seem to change so much after a just a few years... now its like Carrot Tail is considered to be ANY Animal that had orange on it's tail. And crazy how 15% seems to be the common "knowledge" as to what the general rule of thumb is... Who is the creator of leopardgeckowiki.com? Maybe someone should contact him to have him change his description of it... since it seems thats where every gets their info these days, lol
