Ceramic Tile

This is for everyone out there who uses tile as a substrate: where did you get it? I've had little luck online and can't find a cheap distributor IRL. Hoping someone can enlighten me to a certain chain or website that they had good luck with.

Thanks

I also purchased mine at lowes. I paid a little over $1 per tile, and picked up 3 12X12 tiles. The third one hasn't been cut yet, as I've decided I'll probably leave the paper towel there since she has dedicated it to her bathroom :main_laugh:

Here's a pic of the tile

Thanks for the replies, I was hoping the chain stores like Lowe's wouldn't overcharge and it looks like they're pretty cheap

Most Lowes and Home Depots don't have tile cutters anymore. They do sell a lot of different tile sizes, though. If you plan creatively, you can put together some different tile sizes to fit your tank. For example, a 20 long could most easily take two 12"x12" tiles and one 12"x6" tile so you'd have to cut one of the big tiles in half. HOwever, they sell 6"x6" tiles and also 3"x12" tiles so you could pick up 2 of those. The biggest problem is where the inside dimensions of the tank are just a little smaller than the tile size. In that case (the 20 long for example) if you can subtract 1" from each dimension and try to find tiles to fit the new dimensions (11"x29" instead of 12"x30") you'll be able to put something together. Then you look at the bathroom tiles and the sheets of small tiles and you can fill in.
