I noticed cheap silkworms thread what about crickets? I found a few places, but maybe you guys/girls know some others. Also what luck have you had on getting shipments in the cold. I living im MA its cold here now and i would like LIVE crickets :D . Found some places where cost comes out to about 6 cents a cricket with shipping included. That is a 500 count.

Hey Neill being from MA my self the place that i get crickets is "Daves soda and pet city" there are four which are only in Ma the locations are Agawam, Hadley, Northampton, and springfield. knowing that you are from the boston area this might be a bit of a drive but their crickets and mealworms are pretty cheap and last a while.

There are many online companys that you can use for your feeder needs. I know i use to use Foster and Smith and had great success at a decent rate. The only reason i really switched was i found a location that was closer to me with free shipping on UPS ground.

Cheap Crickets

As far as finding cheap crickets, this requires a bit of research. I have used *****, Foster and Smith, Premium Crickets and CricketsOnline (Top Hat Crickets) with different results. I am currently using CricketsOnline because I am close enough to the supplier to get the free ground shipping, and they do a really good job on the cold weather packing. They also overpack by 10% to account for loss during shipping. I actually found out about this supplier from a local breeder. Check with one of your local breeders. They may get discounted rates for high quantities, but it can't hurt to check.
When you get crickets shipped in cold weather, put them in their storage container right away to let them warm up. A lot of them will look dead, but are really only dormant. When looking into rates see what shipping options are available, and the costs. I have found that sometimes the crickets themselves cost less, but the shipping costs and DOA loss make them more expensive than the more expensive crickets.
Overall it is a trial and error experience.

Wow some of these are great prices.. I live in Ontario, and get 500 from Port Credit for $12. I work at a pet valu store and we order from there, and my boss gives them to me at cost. I haven't had any trouble with the cold yet this year and it's pretty fridgid here!

I get 5,000 crickets every 2 weeks and its pretty cheap lets just say that I get them for what I used to pay for 500 from the big pet chains they are 1 penny a piece with free shipping. Even if half of them die for the price its worth it. And the best way I've found shipping them in the cold is to overnight them and have the shipping facility hold em there and call you for pick up rather than being out on a cold truck for possibly the whole day, its worked out great for me like this I only do this in colder weather anything under 50 dgrees over that I just have em shipped to my door.
