Thinking about some repti carpet as i'm getting a bit bored of the kitchen roll look.

How do you clean up little messes that are left lying around on it?

thanks

When they poo, I just pick it up with a paper towel. And then every week I completely take the tank apart, scrub the carpet in the shower with chlorexidine, scrub the bottom of the tank, dry the carpet and put back together. I know people do run the carpet through the washer, but IMO that takes way too long.

if your leos defecate always on the same spot, put in a tile in that area, which you can easily remove and clean. This will not spare you cleaning the carpet every one and then , but may keep it a bit easier to keep it cleaner longer and also minimize smells ;-)

That is what I do too, except I use toilet paper on the spot. Change it out when its used.

Just as an added note, a lot of people who use reptile carpet have two pieces for each cage, that way you can alternate pieces while cleaning on, so you don't have to wait for it to dry. Chlorahexidine works on just about anything, with a scrub brush.

I use a paper towel in the "poop spot" and when I clean the carpet I put the carpets in the washer by them selfs on the hand wash cycle and then when its done in the washer I put the carpet in the dryer on NO HEAT AIR ONLY setting. If you use heat it will mess up the carpet...

i know some poeple whp put them in the washing machine

I love reptile carpets for this reason. My guys have a tendency to get their calcium powder and such all over the place. I throw the carpets in run it on the cold cycle (no detergent) and then let it air dry. Done and ready to be put back in the tank in about half an hour.

:main_thumbsup: Works like a charm.
