Since leopard geckos usually pick a corner of their tank to poop in do I have to leave one open ? I already have all four corners taken up . Do I have to remove something or move it , or will they just go somewhere else ?:main_huh:

They'll figure out a place to go, though if they choose a place (like a corner) where you already have something, they'll just go on top of it.

Haha yea, or they'll find a corner between stuff. Like one of my males once, in an act that didn't say a lot about his reasoning skills, he chose the corner between his water bowl and a hide. And several times he simply just went in his water lol

we had a small group of babies that did nothing but poop on top of their house for about a month. now they picked a corner. Makes cleaning easier.

It depends on the leo. My leo poops in a corner while the leo I had a few years ago decided she was shy and would only poop in one specific hide, no matter where in the tank I would move it too she would still poop in it. It was so incredibly annoying!

My gecko poops in the pretty $8 rock cave hide, and spends the other 98% of her life in the hide made from a cottage cheese container. -.-

We originally had one (Kratos) that pooped in her hide, then more started doing it. We said Kratos was plotting a conspiracy against us. We keep telling them not to listen to her, but we just keep getting ignored. I think we have about a half dozen now that do it.

Keeping one corner clear of obstructions so they can maneuver there easily, cut a traingular piece of paper towel and put it in the corner you want them to go. Once they go on that paper, leave it in there until they go on the paper a second time, then replace the paper. They will learn to poop there. Be patient. They are smart animals.
Once they get this down they will go there every time and your cleanup will be a snap!

mine poos in his hot hide so i put a square of paper towel in there and just remove it when it is clean and spray down the tile every once in a while with vinegar water. Works great, if only my tokay was tidy...

my new juvies are soooo weird. They love pooping on and around this one hide.. It was on the hot side and after a few days there would be poop all inside the hide and on the hide, so I moved that particular hide to the cool end and put a different one on the hot end to try and train them.. I recently put that poop hide on the hot side cuz they haven't been pooping in it and sure enough after the first night.. Poop in and on the hide!! WTH?!

I am trying to train mine to poop in the same place again as atm its a bit of a nightmare >.< Yoshi thinks pooping on his cool hide is fun and Daisy just likes to hide it somewhere at the front.

When i first got them they were so good at going in the same place but then it just went downhill...Daisy even pooped in her water dish for about 3 days :(

If i can get em to poop in the same corner again my next trick will be teaching them to play the violin ;)

I actually have 2 females who seek out their water bowls. No matter where I put them in the tub. As soon as they get fresh water they mess it up, then look at me like "this water is dirty, clean it peasant" lol.
