Hello guys, I'm going to start on having three cresteds, I still have some questions, hope you can help me.

1. Can I house 2 females together, male would have to be separatly right?

2. I like a lot red cresteds, what morphs are the one that show great red, and also If you can put some pics of some red cresteds :)

3. Who to buy? Well what breeder you recommend me to buy, that have some red crested, I'm going to check with friends that breed them, but still want more sources.

Thanks guys.

1. You can house 2 similarly sized females together, but still have to watch for bullying and stress.

2. Red cresteds are going to show the most red. I'm not sure what you're asking. Depending on the line breeding, the red will vary from pale to deep to maroon to even red-orange. Which is going to be the case for red harlequins, red dalmatian, red bicolor, and anything with red coloring.

3. Crowned Royal Reptiles has reds usually, and she's great to work with. I got my male from her. Jeanne has them as well.

I got my male from Crown Jewel. He's gotten really nice. I bought him as an unsexed red and cream for a great price.

AC usually has some amazing reds.

Pangea doesn't have many cresteds left for sale, but I highly recommend Matt. My most friendly geckos came from him.

Gecko Greatness has a few nice ones left. I got one from them at a show and the gecko is doing great.

There are usually a lot in the classified ads, especially at pangea.

Be prepared to become addicted to them! I have 7 right now with plans to get some more soon.:)

Some great Reds start out as ugly ducklings so you can go one of two ways.

1. Pay a little more and find an adult or subadult that's the color you're looking for, or
2. Save money and find a reputable breeder who can fairly accurately predict what color a juvie will be.

I am not one of those people (LOL) but I hung on to a brown Patternless baby because I thought he was cute and I'm sure glad I did! He's a usually a pale Salmon color but he fires up pretty red.

Here are some pictures so you can see the color changes:

Hey guys, thanks for all the answer, I really want to enter to the world of cresteds, first buy all their enclosures and then buy 1.2.0.

I like a lot the red ones, and actually almost all of my leopards are bought juvenile/adult, weird times I got babies, so paying a little extra would be no problem.

I will check with some of the breeders you have tell me, I hope to get addicted to them Kristi!

And MEL, thats an amazing change! But that red color is one of the best I have seen, thats something what I'm looking for, I think that much red is difficult to find because probably the breeders take them as holdbacks, but we'll see, I really want some red ones

Thanks guys, hope soon I can show all what I end buying..

oh!!!

You can house babies up until about...er...16 grams (ask Nate about this, he'll know) in Kritter Keepers.
That's what my little 6 gram guy is kept in.:D
Cheap caging...for now.:D

I use the critter keepers, too. They come in different sizes and they can move up as they get bigger. Once they get to 20-25 grams, I move them to a regular cage. They seem to be more comfortable in a smaller place when they're little. Mine have been able to stay in the larger critter keeper for 9+ months. It makes it really easy to buy a lot of little ones, too.;)

yes it does!
And here's news: Baby chahouas can be housed in shoe box plastic containers.
Even smaller caging!!!

And gargoyles can be housed in Kritter Keepers, too!
Most Rhacs (if not all) can be housed in Kritter Keepers when they are small.

Jorge,

I think it's time you became addicted to Crested Geckos!!!! I'll send you photo's tonight of how I keep them. They are way cheaper to house and keep than Leopard's. You don't have to spend a lot of money on the supplies. I think everytime I need a new setup I spend like $25-$30 tops on everything! That price is for an adult cage with all the amenities :) I'll be around this weekend if you have questions. My dad had knee surgery this week so I'm stuck at the house taking care of him and the geckos :)

I need to know where you get your setups. That sounds like a great deal.
