OK, beside the obvious noise and smell issues why do so many people hate on crickets? Is it a nutritional thing or just the nastiness?

Noise and smell wouldnt bother me i keep them in the out house (brick Shed) only my leo lives withus in the house, this was THE WIFES RULES when she let me get him.
Catching them or letting them escape when cleaning poop etc etc. Also heard they stress geckos out when they sleeping.

I dont mind them so much. I dont house them in my house though. I buy as many as a need for that day.

Chirping, smell, and the fact that they jump. I wish they weren't so annoying, because they're low fat, nutritious feeders.

Good thing dubia roaches are great alternatives to them.

I have a cricket keeper, and there are about 40 of them in there, and none of them chirp...ever. I wonder if the cricket keeper is sound proof? But they don't smell either, but then again I've never stuck my face in there and sniffed it. My Gecko enjoys eating them thoguh. I hate having to stick my hand in there to try and catch them.

I hate their chirping, their smell and that I can't catch them... and while I would LOVE for my boy to eat dubia- he refuses... he's a bit picky, or spoiled, lol

Unless the crickets are full grown adults, they can't chirp. Cricket keepers have holes.. That wouldn't be soundproof haha

Keep an aircurrent over top of the keeper, that keeps them quite. Always. I have a portable fan in my room, i just set their container infront of it when i used to have them.

The reason i posted this is because right now my geckos wont really eat the meal worms. I give them crickets because its the only thing i can find locally and somewhat reasonably priced, and they devour them.

Agreed with above... The potential for parasite infection is a big put off, not to mention if your pet shop accidentally gets the more aggressive jamaican field cricket that could end poorly for your leo. Theres a gecko time article in the forum about that that every cricket feeder should read. Also if you keep a toilet paper roll in the cricket keeper you never have to touch the lil buggers, but I still wouldn't feed crix to my boy. We feed super worms here (morio worms).
