Designer Geckos introduces our Mandarin Tangerine line

We have worked hard for the last few years to combine various Tangerine lines, choosing the best high end geckos for breeders that we could acquire from those lines, and then selecting the very best offspring to establish the line.

We've finally arrived at the point where we are satisfied that we have taken the project as far as it could go, and we are naming the line after the foundation male, Mandarin. When he was young, his irridescent orange bands were the most intensely orange colors we'd ever seen, and we knew he was something special. As he has grown, his orange continued to be very bright, and he was a unique orange color deserving of a new name. Those who have seen him in person always react with shock and awe.

So, Mandarin is being bred to our very best females from that line, and he is also being used in some new Designer Geckos combos such as Mandarin Tangerine Enigmas, Mandarin Designers, and Mandarin Bandits. We're very excited about the animals that will come out of breedings with this special gecko.

Here's a pic of him...oranges are tough to accurately depict online, but this is about as close as we could come to show his color. His CT is still spreading, as is his orange banding. He's also a big boy, very smart, and has a great mellow personality.

For some reason the pic got messed up. Please see subsequent reply with pic. Sorry for the confusion....

LOL, yeah Ray....
got me all inspired with this nice write up on Mandarin.
Then a let down ....No photo.
Got hungry thinking of mandarin, oranges.
Had to walk 5 miles in rough Indiana weather to the country store.
They were out of them.
Had to settle for green apples.
So now I'm back .......
Ready to listen to John Denver and continue to
wait for the Orange of all Oranges, from that
Rocky Mountain High guy Ray.
Ment HIGH in a nice way.
Hurry with that photo.......Im anxious!
: and I'm beginning to wonder if you really have a gecko store in Colorado.
Take care. HJ

Here is a pic of Mandarin.....and yes as KK says, this is how he really looks. We were shocked to see him as a baby and hoped he would keep those colors, and he did. Hard to capture in a photo but this pic is extremely accurate. We have had some very high $ offers from people at our store for him. We'll get great babies out of him so we'll spread around the good fortune of having this guy in our collection. He's been a great breeder too.

congratulations on your selection, I love your bandit and designers are really unique ... even this new line of tangerine is very interesting, but on facebook you can see the same photo but with different intensity of tangerine obviously, is not there was a small incli of geckoforum? ;-)

Yes, that first pic was very dull and not at all representative of what he really looks like. We went back to the original picture which was more accurate. The other was a poor representation of what he looked like. This new one is very close to exact, though we have struggled with orange on a black background. His colors are just so bright that it seems to be almost impossible to get it right. I may try a white background, but our site uses black background so we try to stick with that.

I even hired a professional photographer to take pics of Ronnie, our SG Sunglow who is very bright yellow and he couldn't do his color justice. Yellow and orange are tough on black.

Try a royal blue background, then you can cut the gecko out and place it on a black background. Royal blue seems to give the best representation of a geckos color for us. I don't necessarily like it as much as white or black, but the true colors almost always seem to be spot on.
