Dry skin? I'm baffled..

Yesterday I noticed that the bottom of Felix's foot was bleeding. He'd just shed so I thought it was because the shed was stuck or something, but I guess that's not the case.

Today I noticed that in between a few toes on each foot is bleeding.

It looks almost like it was dry and just cracked? But no one else has this problem..

I thought maybe I'd accidentally left a cricket in the tank but I literally JUST cleaned out the tank after I fed them, I mean literal scrub down..there's nothing in there.

Anyone have any ideas?

Another thought...since I've been home the temp has randomly spiked above his heat mat. It's at 105 now instead of the 85 it's been at lately. Do you think the excessive heat is causing this? I don't have a thermostat at the moment (can get one after my first paycheck of the summer) so what can I do to lower the temps above his heat mat? Currently he's on vinyl tile

theres a chance his feet got burned and I would un stick the heat mat if its the one you stick to the bottom and leave a bit of space between the glass and heat pad

I just unplugged the mat altogether and turned on a low-wattage infrared lamp. I'm gonna monitor the temps in 15 minutes and see if it's lower than with the mat on--hopefully it's as easy as that

If you are concerned about infection you can use a little neosporin (not pain relief kind) on the affected areas. Good luck with the temps. Does the tail tip look ok? Since that is small in diameter sometimes it will burn too.

Thanks for the idea. His tail tip looks ok. I put some neosporin in between his toes and on the bottom of one of his feet. Hopefully it'll heal pretty quickly. The temp is now back to a 95, so I'll just leave the heat lamp on for now

(I accidentally posted under my sister's name lol)

He's doing a little better, is exploring the new tank I put him in. I moved him to a 20 gal long instead of the 10 gal he was cramped in. He really needed the space and now there's more of a temp gradient. I don't see any fresh blood, but the little wounds are still bright red. I'm hoping it'll heal pretty quickly and not leave any lasting damage. :( I'm just glad I noticed fairly quickly.

We had a girl get a wound, and the scab stayed on her until she shed. Once she shed she looked perfect again. Hopefully after his next shed you will see a vast improvement. Good Luck!
