She is het eclipse so the green isn't as nice as full emerine. After a few years I'm hoping to work it back in a lot more.

How does the "het' take the green out of them? I don't quite understand the whole Emerine "green" thing as it is (just don't see it in most), but now you've totally confused me Morgan! LOL! :main_huh: Care to elaborate?? :main_yes:

She comes from a "Pacific Green" emerine crossed to a giant emerine eclipse from Ron Tremper. As what happens all the time when breeding polygenic morphs, this gecko came out with significantly more orange than a lot of her clutchmates, but still obviously carries the "emerine" genetics. One of the nice bi-products of emerines are really nicely colored geckos(just look at a lot of the pacific greens, extreme emerines, sykes emerines,ect.). It comes from 2 "emerine" lines and most of the clutchmates and even this gecko display some green so it is labeled as such. If a breeder bred two emerine lines that have been line bred as such for years and it came out with less green spots you wouldn't just call it a tangerine would you? Anyway, in my opinion the green color comes from the way black pigment fades, so there is really no true real emerine(at least not yet). Most emerines go through stages and will be really green as juveniles but loose some of it as they get older. And you are correct, the het eclipse does not make a difference in this situation. I think Morgan thought I bred a regular eclipse to an emerine which would have taken a step back from the line bred goal of a green gecko.

Yeah John, thanks for commenting. I didn't know it was from two emerines until you emailed me. I should really buy an emerine eclipse male from you this year to keep them green. Lol.
