Enigma and Carrot Tail

I've noticed that most enigmas have whiteish-grey tails that are nearly solid. What woulud happen if you bred and enigma with a solid whitish-grey tail with a 50%+ carrot tail?

I'm sure someone has done it... If you have, what happened with the offspring's tails?

So far, we haven't managed to produce any enigmas with more than just a little bit of carrot-tail, even when one of the parents had a substantial amount. Keep in mind, though, that the carrot-tail trait took many generations to develop, so it will probably take some time to produce enigmas with impressive carrot-tails, if it's possible at all.

True. I was just curious if anyone has seen one or has been working at it. That is interesting though. I was thinking about it as I was looking at one of my tangerines with a good bit of carroting, and realized I'd never seen an enigma with much carroting on the tail.

I have a tangerine Enigma that Mike Rekowski produced that has a decent amount of carrot tail... I'll be working with this male to see if the trait can be reproduced through selective breeding, or whether it is just a random 'trait' with the enigmas.... lets hope it can be reproduced...

Here is a photo of his carrot tail... (at about 30 grams)

This is a recent photo I took when I was updating the breeder photos on my website... he is now around 45 grams.

I honestly think, like Jason said, that the carrot tails on enigmas will take many generations to produce, just as the current carrot-tails have.

Thanks for the picture Brittney. I figured it would take a while to produce a similar carrot tail as today's tangerines and whatnot; like I said I was just curious if anyone was working on it and whatnot. I have seen very few to none in the pictures posted on the forums. I'd be interested to see your results even after your first hatchlings with the enigma that you pictured.
