I´m new to Leopardgecko breeding but don´´t mind to pay up to $500 for a Gecko.
Now I know that most morphs come out with extrem prices like 3000 for MSSE at the moment or just Enigma with 1000€(Marc Bell in Hamm) to 2750$ in US.
When do you think the price will reache somewhere around the 500$ a Gecko.
I´m personally not talking of Enigma Bells or Enigma Snows or Enigma Bell Snows and so on just of the normal Enigmas like that one:
http://www.lizardlair.net/files/ENIGMA/SAVANNAH_2_700_named.jpg
or a few of KelliH which I can´t show of as somehow the page is offline but I think you all now what I mean^^.

I hope you can tell me a bit over it as most of you have seen how the prices for Macks or Raptors were going.

THX for your help.

bye

You'll definitely see average Enigmas for $500-$600 next year (females late 2nd qtr. males late 3rd-4th qtr.)... The key term here is average because a high color/contrast Enigma could turn up some projects to unimagined levels... Such a gecko would surely would go for 2-3 times as much...

That's my guess to your question and by no means should it be taken as anything more than an opinion... :pleased:

Hi thx for your opinion.
What exactly do you mean with high contrast?^^ I mean tha one from Shelly is that meant with high contrast or more the ones that show off extreme orange on their bodys with red eyes and so on.

Or for example this two(all THX to hisss):
enigmahissss.jpg

enigmahisss.jpg

What do you think their prices could be next year?
And I´ve seen that above, which I personally like most and normal Enigmas het Bell which look somehow like normal Sunglows or so.
I´ve seen one for 1000€ at Marcs booth in Hamm which looked somehow unspectacular normal like a Super Hypo or so.
Where is the difference between the ones pictured above and that Enigmas.
I´d love to have a male like the ones pictured above^^.

Being a dominant gene, it shouldn't take too long before there are a lot of enigmas out there. A recessive gene takes at least two generations to combine morphs, but theoretically enigmas should be popping out in the first generation. So we'll see if the market is flooded with enigmas next year I guess. I do know that some people are selling RAPTORs for lower than 1/3 the price they were going for last year.

Thanks for making this point Michael. I see potential "line bred" directions all over these Enigmas!

you will be able to get a normal enigma next year at daytona for under $200 I bet mabey even $100. the crosses will be the things that are worth the most next year. its sad but i think it is the truth. the market will fall faster then the mack snows. just because of the number of males that are already out there. for some people this will be a bad thing (breeders) but for others this will be a great thing (buyers) because alot more people will be able to work with this great morph. :D

Any speculation on Enigma prices is just that--speculation. I think a lot of people are equating the Enigmas' future market trends with those seen of the mack snows. I'd caution anyone doing so as the two morphs hardly compare. The mack snow gene essentially takes color out of our Leopard Geckos, which is not necessarily something that everyone desires. I mean, how many solid or nearly solid white variations of Leopard Geckos do we have now? There is still so much that we don't know about the Enigmas, and obviously we have yet to see their full potential. Who knows, maybe we'll see Enigma morphs and crosses in the future that are more intense than we could have ever imagined. Heck, maybe the demand for Enigmas will even increase. Unless someone is holding the Enigmas' crystal ball, I don't think anyone is qualified at this point to make assertions as to the future market pricing of the Enigmas. They are, after all, an Enigma. ;)

Yeah that can be but you can get an enigma for around 1000€ right now and it was not long ago not to think of that. Well what ever we will see^^.
I just wanted to ask what you all think of that theme.

I've heard that in Hamm Enigmas were about 800€ ("normal" Enigmas).

Okay As right now Hisss is offering the kind of Enigma I like most for around $1000 which is cheaper than every Enigma I saw in Hamm and I got a Maybepricing of a breeder for his/hers next Year Enigmas from $400-$700 for normal Enigmas I would say the price could realy fast be at the bottom. Well I think If all comes that way I´ll import a nice Enigma female for my groupe(maybe het bell as she could give "BOMB"-style Offsprings with my MSB male[look at that beuti on hisss´s Enigma list on top the MS Bell Enigma ^^ it looks like a devil.])

Yes, an average looking subadult female Enigma is $1000. At the beginning of the year adult females were $1500. I personally think the prices are holding up pretty well. What do you guys think?

I think they are holding up pretty well, also. Obviously a lot of people are comparing the Mack Snows with the Enigmas and trying to figure out what will happen to the market. That makes sense...but they are other factors at work. I personally feel that the enigmas are more variable (in pattern, color, etc..) and offer many more genetic options than the Macks...if nothing else, simply for the fact that they came after the Macks. Of the 10 Enigmas I hatched this past season each one looked very unique, considering they all came from the same pairing. I would think pricing should start to vary a good bit on the Enigmas based on their look. The tough part is figuring out what "look" people are willing to value more! It's going to be exciting to see breeders take the Enigmas in new directions and see new "looks"/morphs arise. Unfortunately, there is the pressure to do it quickly..."before the market drops". If anyone has a solution to that...please share ;)
