I just acquired my first enigma from the SA expo about 5 days ago, and I was wondering if there were any tips for people new to enigmas?

So far I got the leo going at the right temps, got two hides, calcium dish with mealworms in it. Just like the other setup I got my other new leo in. BTW this leo and the other new one are in a 15Qt tub.

But the other leo I got is already eating while the enigma hasn't yet. Any tips to get her jump started?

Pic can be seen here.

As you can see from the two geckos on the bottom I am not new to leos, Just enigmas.

is she is the same 15QT as your other new gecko? also you said she in your other thread she was laying eggs or had laid one. do you know if she had been bred or is the egg a dud (females not bred can lay eggs too).

as far as taking care of an enigma, i care for them exactly the same as my other geckos.

No they are in different containers. Well she just layed one and I looked at her belly and I didn't see anymore eggs, But I am not sure if the female was bred or not. I'll just have to see if the egg is a dud.

Thanks!

ok cool, i would try to get some wax worms or a pinkie and see if she will eat it. make sure she is getting plenty of calcium and getting her vitamins and try and keep any interaction to a minimum and stress to a minimum. before anything we need to get her feeding

I don't have a place anywhere near by that has wax worms, But I tried a f/t pinky last night and she tasted it. But nothing else.

I agree! I try to keep stress to a minimum! I'll try some dusted crickets later tonight.

yeah as far as enigmas go, id avoid light and stress, let it settle in a good two days or so then offer it food.

Thanks! Yeah I am just gonna leave her alone. I have mealworms in there and supers that crawled out of the bowl but are still in there for her to eat if she wants.

I find that my Enigma does not really eat out of his bowl, even if it is loaded full of mealies. Have you tried hand-feeding? Mine usually lunges and misses two or three times before he manages to grab each one, so it can be a long process! But he does at least have a very healthy appetite (he just gobbled down nine large mealies in one sitting!!!)
