...go in her wet hide/lay box?

I have a female ready to pop any day now and she refuses to even acknowledge that there's a place for her to do that. To my knowledge, she's never once stepped foot in there. This is her first clutch ever and I wonder if she knows what to do lol. Most first time females I've had are already spending every waking minute digging. She shed three days ago, too...didn't even use the wet hide for that.

Pretty sure she's defective, haha :p

Anyway, has anyone else had females do this?

I have a few females who will go in their lay boxes, but still lay outside of them everytime. It's frustrating.

Yeah, one of my females digged all night in her lay box and then when I found the eggs they were on the paper towels. She layed her first clutch in the lay box though.

I have a Hypo female. Every time she gets bred, she will "abort" one of the eggs (on the paper towels) about half way through the gestation period and will lay the other about a week later in her hide box.

When I have one that is near laying, I will frequently put her in the laybox every time I pass by. If yours lays outside the box, for the next clutch, you could put her in a 5 gallon tank with about an inch of substrate on the bottom, sort of like a huge lay box. Then she'll have no choice.

I had one female (first year breeder) and she laid her first two clutches in her laybox. They were both duds but her last two clutches were fertile and both of those she laid right outside her lay box...funny creatures sometimes aye :)

Question...which side is your laybox on? The cool or the warm? I found that as soon as I switched my box to the warm side, my females started using it much more regularly.
