I've seen that some people have "expected hatch dates" on their eggs incubating section. How do you figure this out. I know that warmer temps=faster incubation but how do you guys estimate hatch dates?

As a general rule, eggs incubated for male will hatch in about 45 days, females take about 60, and mixed incubation will be somewhere in between, faster on the warmer end and slower on the cooler end. My recent hatches, incubated for male, took 46 and 47 days.

My personal averages for hatching dates are Female (82.2) take between 52-57 days and Males (89.5) take between 36-39 days. But a factor that also has to be considered is how long the female held them before laying...this can change it a couple days. I have been keeping track of how many days after their shed they will lay and have determined a 6.73 days (actual average) after shed they will lay. Just figured that may be a fact you may be interested in as well.

little of topic here, sorry..
But I find this interesting...I have heard mixed opinions on if they go through a "prelay shed" type thing...apparently there is some truth to that? One of my females shed last wednesday, and was a little curious as to if that was the "prelay shed" or just a coincidence...

Sorry for the off-topic post...

Thanks for that info!!!!
My female that I put in with the male looked noticably larger and looks like she is going into a shed!! Hopefully she might be gravid. I saw some pink little circles in her belly and I will post pics later today.

I have never heard of the pre-lay shed in leos, but one of mine just shed, so I'm keeping track of how long the eggs take to pop out.

Not all of my females will do a "pre-lay" shed nor am I saying that this is a sure way of telling, however I have been testing it out this season to see if its true and about 85-90% of all my females will shed within about a week of laying. The shortest time I have had was 4 days and the longest was 9.

It's at day 6 after the shed today for me...we'll see....

I have not counted the days after the pre lay shed but I do know that with my females it is usually around 4 weeks when they lay again and about a week after they shed.

Good luck to everyone and their breeding projects.
