I'm EXCESSIVELY, but in a healthy way, biased....

Rainwater Vs Tremper circa 2002

Tremper color change 4 mnoths old vs 8 months old circa 2000, gecko kept at 88-90°F (she was a replacement for one that brown up in 2 months...)

Tremper male from Albey Scholl purchased in 2001 or 2002 (knew it looked that dark when I purchased it...

My male normal rainwater, photo from 2004...purchased from Kevin Hanley in 2001.

Crap Chris! $1,000.00 for an albino!

Look at the date...that was the first year both the Tremper and Rainwater albinos were made available to the general public; Trempers first, Rainwaters later in the year. The Tremper male albinos were going for $2000. Never the less, to give you a better idea, I graduated highschool in May 2000. The ship date on that albino was 7-13-1999. Now those of you that don't understand why I'm so biased might have a better idea. My intentions are not to bash here, but as a 17 year old, naive high schooler I trusted word that was said to me when I asked if the rumors were true about this particular line browning up. I was overwhelmingly reassured that they did not. As the photos speak, I felt I had been ripped off $1000 via a mis-represented animal that just a year or so ago the original proprietor finally admitted, through IMHO an excuse, that these "brown" albinos were due to incubation temps, poor husbandry (temperature regiment in particular - not being warm enough), and stress - and thus named them "chocolate phase" albinos.

My lesson learned here...

Don't buy into new morphs of any herp unless:
1) you produced the new morph
2) are a large breeder capable of spending the time to refine it
3) enjoy wasting money on potentially mis-represented animals
4) have deep pockets and don't mind taking an uncalculated risk
5) are a naive high schooler with a huge, passionate loving for normal/ "wild-type" animals and their resulting inverse/reciprocal genetic anomaly known as albinism
6) learn to listen to personal intuitional red flags when purchasing any product from any company with acronyms like C.R.A.P., F.E.C.E.S., P.O.O.P., F.E.C.A.L. Matter, or similar acronymically abbreviated words.
