First Clutch From Enigma Blizzard Project Hatched, and a Question...

and I wanted to get some opinions about the Blizzard. I think it is an Enigma Blizzard. It has solid black eyes (I know, not unheard of in Blizzards), a really light head and white tail. The gecko pictured with it is it's clutchmate.

The question I have is this: does anyone have photographs of a hatchling Enigma Blizzard? I have seen the photo Alberto posted here-
http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=13339&highlight=blizzard
but that is not a hatchling. If you look at the photo of the Blizzard sibling below, you will see that it is quite similar to the gecko in Alberto's photo.

Anyway, I did some searching but could not find any other hatchling photos of Enigma Blizzards, so I am hoping someone here can help me out and post one. Also, some opinions on the Blizzard. Does it look "different" to anyone else? I don't have any other hatchling blizzards here to compare it to, but don't they usually have a darker head and tail?

Also, I am NOT saying that Alberto's gecko is not an Enigma Blizzard at all, I am asking: Is it possible that my baby blizzard IS. Perhaps Enigma Blizzards looks so much like regular Blizzards as hatchlings that most people would not be able to tell the difference?

Cool, thanks Matt. I have a LOT more eggs incubating from Enigma Het Blizzard to Blizzard so I'll keep everyone posted as well. I still want to know what Alberto's gecko looked like as a hatchling!

Looks a little different to me, but I thought the spotty ones (like the clutchmate) were the Blizznigmas(?)

The clutchmate looks like a regular Enigma to me though. That's what's confusing me, it has no Blizzard characteristics at all. Remember the Patty Enigmas never develop any pattern and the stripe they hatch with fades out considerably until they end up looking like a really light colored pastelish looking Patty.

It's gorgeous, whatever it is, Kelli. It almost looks to have a lighter neckband, as well. Is that just the pics, or can you see it it RL?? I am by no means any kind of Enigma expert, but between that and the uber-white tail, it looks Enigma-ish to me.

The other Enigma clutchmate is a cutie, too.

Thanks! And yes, you can see an area that is lighter that goes from ear to ear across it's head. There is a lighter colored stripe that runs up it's back that connects to the band on the head. LOL maybe I'm just looking at it too closely and overanalyzing it. I have more eggs due to hatch any day from my male bred to a different Blizz female, I wish they would hurry up and hatch!

I can honestly say I have no idea, Kelli. He's very cool, whatever he is. ;) I too want to see pics of Alberto's blizzard enigma as a hatchling - these things are so enigmatic!!!!! :main_laugh: I think I learn something new everyday with this morph. Seriously.

Now I understand why you called. It does look a little weird. I do not know what to think of it... I am still even waiting to hatch a normal blizzard from our Male. Just lots of heavily patterned Enigmas as of this moment in time. :p

Please keep us updated on your progress with this project.

FYI
First of all, with enigma I am not 100% sure of anything at this point, so it is very possible that mine is not a blizzard enigma.
This is what I know, the animal was born very premature and I did not think it was going to make it that is why I didn't take PICS of it at birth. Also, it looked like an all white animal, like a blizzard with a very small black dot on the head and on the middle of the body. I thought it was just a normal blizzard at first with a few beauty marks. My only questioning beeing an enigma was because was doing a little the circling thing which is completely gone now but the clutchmate, also a blizzard, was doing the same circling thing and the animal ended up to be just a normal blizzard. This is another new thing that people should know, the enigma circling thing can be passed to non enigma as well in my experience but luckly it only happen to me with only 1 animal so far. This is another information for people that are trying so hard to understand what this problem is, it may be not related only to enigmas. I hand feed that girl for almost 1 full month and the shedding was not coming off properly and I had to clean it often myself. It was a very skittish baby and let the tail go at one of my hand feeding, that is why the regrown tail. It sure did not have bands or any pattern at all, all white. This is my girl now at 45 gr. and Matt will take her off my hand and prove it out if it is, or if it is not a blizzard enigma. We will know for sure in 2-3 months.
Anyone that wants to ask me questions about my enigmas experiences so far feel free to call me or email me anytime.
Here is the girl now.

Very interesting, thanks for the post Alberto.

Isn't it possible, not saying this is the case, but isn't it possible that the circling Blizzard "sibling" could actually be an Enigma Blizzard, and that's why it "acts" like an Enigma? Maybe the Enigma Blizzard looks sooo much like a regular Blizzard that it's very difficult to tell for sure? I've hatched out lots and lots of Enigma siblings, and I have never had any of them express any of the negative traits of the Enigma.

A friend of mine got a male Enigma Double Het Bell X Blizzard male from me last year. He's hatched a few babies now from breeding him to Blizzard females. The only Blizzard's he has hatched from the pairing look like regular Blizzards to him (he does not have much experience hatching Blizzards though) but interestingly enough he told me that one of them that just hatched "circles" like some Enigma hatchlings do. I think that MAYBE his "circling" Blizzard is actually an Enigma Blizzard.

As I said all is possible with enigma. For certain is that one is like a dalmation looking and the other is still all white and just looks like a normal blizzard and still doing weird stuff like enigma. She is also a holdback and we will prove her out to be or not to be an enigma. It will be a big variant on pattern if both prove out to be enigma blizzard and I will be very surprised but I will find out for sure. Also if the white ones are the real enigma blizzard and not the dalmation looking one, then what is the one that turned out dalmation? I sure do not know yet.

Alberto. Do you have any pictures of what you consider a Blizzard/Blazing Blizzard Enigma right after hatching?

And.. A question for both Kelli and Alberto. What do the eyes of the Blizzard that "acts" like an enigma look like? Normal Blizzard eyes are very different than Enigma eyes. I think it may be a good secondary guessing factor.
