Well what to my wondering eyes should appear, but on the 18th two little gecko eggs so small and so dear!
I am a first timer so bare with me. I candled them and in both there are tiny veins, does this mean they are fertile for sure? I can't believe how long the eggs are, at least 1.25 if not a bit longer.
Eggs are in incubator at 83*-85* with moisten perlite as subtrate. I marked the tops before taking them from the nest.
How long before the eggs firm up a bit. It's been three days and the eggs are like the texture of gummybears, would this be right?
The eggs look wonderful, no dents or discoloring.
I was instructed to put the male back in with her the following day of laying. Being a beginner I did, and omg she almost tore him apart. I took him out right away and I don't think he will go back there anytime to soon. It was a beating he won't soon forget.
This is all so exciting! Any info or input would be great. Thank you all in advance.

I dont put my males back in tell they have laid about 4 clutches, geckos retain the males sperm and sometimes dont even need the male reintroduced. The thing about the eggs mine usually firm up an hour after being layed, if they are to wet in the perlite they wont and will eventually mold or if you got them out of the lay box too soon from laying and they were fresh out of the female they may not harden either. Just keep an eye on them other than that it sounds like your doing what should be done.

We usually don't re-breed our females but a lot of people will reintroduce the male after a few clutches. It sounds like your eggs are good. Leo eggs don't get as firm as some other reptile eggs so "gummy bear" sounds like a pretty accurate description to me. When they are first laid they're really soggy so yours were probably already a few hours old when you found them.

first egg update

Hello to all, upon inspecting (not touching) the new eggs that were laid on the 18th I am concerned. They have that "water ballon" look. They never did get white/chalky looking. They are thin shelled, gummy bear soft, but showing red veins when candled. One of the eggs is sweating on its tip, and candling showed veins on one half of the egg and just clear yellow (end where its sweating) on the other half, I think I might detect a slight odor from this one. The second eggs is better then the first, no sweating, veins and bullseye are seen, but very thin shelled and gummybear soft. This egg is growing or should I say is now bigger then the first, they were both the same size when laid. Any ideas as to what is going on? I have always dusted her food, plus dish of calcium in tank. She is a first timer. I am using perlite/
85*/no holes in container.
She is ready to lay again on the 2ed, anything else I can do to pump her calcium up? Can I put Caldrops in her water? Thank you all in advance.
