Well I Wasnt Trying to Go herping but it was a pretty Cool Find.... As you can Tell from the Pic I was Playing a baseball Game (Sorry for my Sweaty Manlyness :main_rolleyes:) I was at Short Stop when my Center Fielder Starts Yelling about a Snake... I ran to go see it and Luckily My girlfried had her camera.... Some kid on the other team tryed to do his Best Steve Irwin Impersonation and Tryed to Grab the snake by the back of the neck... well He grabbed too low and the snake turned and Put a NASTY bite on him... I picked her up and she calmed right down and let me get some Cool Pics..

When i Caught it i thought Green Water Snake Too. But I did some research and The only place in Florida that Green Water Snakes (Nerodia Cyclopion) are found is in the Panhandle. I believe this is a Florida Green Water Snake (Nerodia Floridana). I have seen a lot of these around lately this was the biggest so far.

Very cool find, Benn!

Hey, if you guys make it down this way, be sure to try to hit Myakka State Park in Osprey and the Myakkahatchee Nature Preserve (just off the Sumter Blvd exit). Loads of good stuff there!

Then come by and pick your bp baby. ;)

That is is the thing that sucks about common names... lol... I was talking about Florida green water snake. I did not know the scientific name and did not want to look =P.

The eyes just don't look right to me... Do they have different color eyes??? :main_robin:

Well I came across this lil Guy on accident.... The girl Friend and I were out on a Bike Ride In Starkey Park (State Park In West Central Florida) After about an hour and a half of bike riding and "Herping" We decided to start heading back home.. About 3 miles away from the exit of the park She yells SNAKE!!! From about 20ft away it looked like a Southern Hognose But as i Got Closer I saw it was a lil Piggy:main_thumbsup: I was SUPER excited and with this only being my 3rd Venomous Snake Caught it took me a couple seconds to stop shaking and compose myself to work with the snake.. Well enough small talk Enjoy the Pygmy Rattlesnake.
