I can definitely understand questions, but it's difficult because this site's TOS prohibit commenting negatively on anyone's business. I just don't want anyone to get a slap on the wrist!

I use their cricket gutload...I haven't had any problems, it was actually recommended by my herp vet...maybe a grain mite here or there, but those little bugs are in everything...

I use their cricket chow.
And their cricket quencher is a staple in my house.
I have never tried any of their calcium/vitamin supplements.

I use them too

I currently use them too but, many people are saying that Cody's is better.

I don't know but, the next time I am going to ProGeckos or what ever the website is and I will try the Cody's Gut Load.

There is also a Rapsaidy (spelling) gutload that I may also try.

I've tried "Brand F" but opt for Zoo Med Repti Calcium because in my experience it coats better. I offer a dish of Calcium too, so coating isn't all that important. As far as which one works better, I can't say without a bone density test or something like that.

I am partial to the Exo Terra products but I also have used some flukers products with no problems so I cant complain about them. They get the job done. :)

Can I use their cricket food and quencher for mealies and roaches!? I tried to get some gutload from one of our sponsored sites but the shipping was more expensive then my order

Cricket quencher "fortified with calcium" will help kill cricket/roaches. Its probably equally as good and a lot cheaper to make your own gutload. Some rolled oats, cheerios and a dried fruit/veggie will get the job done. And for extra protein for the roaches dry dog/cat food would work well.

I use it right now for feeding and watering my crickets. i think i will be switching over to Cody's gut load cause i have heard good things about it and i'm always willing support the small business owners out there. Like Nigel said i use Rep Cal for CA and herpivite or something like that for minerals and vitamins, not at home so i can't see, sorry.

Lessee...10 parts wheat bran, 8 parts oat bran, 4 parts 7-grain cereal, 3 parts corn masa/meal, 2 parts brewers yeast, 1 part calcium and reptamins (one small container each), fresh veggies rotated for selection/heavy on the potatoes, carrots, and kale. Cat food as needed.

Not so hard. $20 for 3 months. For a whole colony.

Yup, that's my answer. But I raise mealies, not crickets.

Although, to be fair, I sometimes use 'Brand F' Orange cubes once they're in the dish to keep them loaded and hydrated. The quencher usually just evaporates into goo before being noticed. The gutload is ok.

There are many good gutloads on the market. I think price is the main issue for most people. But most don't realize how important it is for your feeder and animals.

I will be Releasing the ULTIMATE All-IN-ONE GUTLOAD within the next few weeks. It will be the the BEST, MOST nutritional GUTLOAD on the Market bar none. It will Contain all Natural and Organic Human Grade ingredients( No Meat fillers or Sub par products ), as well as the "Ultimate" Fruit and Vegetable Powders( see my add in the classifieds for this Awesome product). No short cuts here either. Lets just say that if people had a diet that was this Nutritional they would be much healthier and happier. So imagine what it can do for your animals. Contact me to get on the Information list and to receive updates on the product.

If you have any questions please fell free to contact me.

Also I see a lot of Cat and dog foods being used as gut load. Meat products are NOT good to use for this. They are low grade and can have all kinds of issues. There are several of the the well know Big breeders here who have said this many times. NO MEAT products. So for those of you who keep using it, Listen to the leader's in the field, they are not trying to steer you wrong.

What about the all natural DRY dog food? I mean, the high end stuff. If I'm feeding it to my dog and he looks great and is in great health, I have no problem feeding it to a feeder insect, and in turn to my gecko.

This is a quote from Marcia:
"Be careful of dry dog and cat food as gutload. The meat by-products in them are not pasteurized, so they can cause bacteria to grow in the cricket feeders."

I am sure the same applies to all feeders. Not just crickets.

So i say if you can find the nutrition else where, why risk it? It's not necessary! You can take the chance if you choose to, but when something bad happens you will have no one to blame but yourself because you knew the issue was there but choose to ignore it. This statement is not directed at one particular person I would say it to all that know there is a risk but say "oh well".

"Be careful of dry dog and cat food as gutload. The meat by-products in them are not pasteurized, so they can cause bacteria to grow in the cricket feeders."

Firstly, after the recent problems with dog food, more companies are now pasteurizing, and more pet owners are buying ONLY pasteurized food.

Now, I interpret the above quote as saying that bacteria will grow in whatever the food is being kept in. If I'm changing the food bi-daily, I would see no problem there. I doubt there's any more harmful bacteria that would grow in the food bowl on it's own than around the cricket crap that already exists in the keeper.

I'm sure that there would be a huge outcry if dog food was contributing to bad health in the geckos of people that use it as a feeder food.

Additionally, I can just about promise you that more bacteria exists on whatever water source or moist fruit you are using in your keeper. It's basic high school biology - bacteria favors dark damp places. Dry dog food is not damp; your common lettuce, carrot, and favorite blue gel are.
