Hi all,
No offence to anyone, but you guys shouldn't complain at all.
I live in Belgium, you pay about 65$ per tanking I read somewhere in this thread.
For the exact same amount we pay 132$!!
Man Belgium is so expensive in every single way.
Anyways, I just had to say this, because I just came back from America and I noticed the price change very clearly.
Greetings Lode

It's all relative... just like the price of food, public transit, taxes, gas and electricity... etc etc etc...

Funny though... I just filled up at $4.29 today and was ecstatic! Like I said... at the beginning of the month, it was around $4.67... this just cracks me up...

i just dont get how the gas works? my best bro was here for the weekend visiting, he live 4 hours away from me now. we have been best buds for around 15 years now. well he was telling me that his gas was dropping fast, like over 20 cents now. but our havent moved at all and when oil dropped all week last week. i just dont get it?

Do you live in different states?

Do you live in an urban area while he lives in a rural area?

Federal, state, and sometimes even local governments will often require different blends of gasoline for different areas. Sometimes, the differences make some sense. Other times, they make little or no sense. Sometimes, they reflect political posturing or the pressure of special interest groups. If your area has very specific requirements, then a refinery somewhere is having to blend that formula specifically for your area. If that blending requires special equipment to make the blend and extra tankage to store the blend, then those costs will be passed along to the consumers in your area. If your buddy lives where the requirements are more relaxed, the gas stations in his area can shop around for the cheapest source of gasoline and pass along those bargains to the consumers.

Another possibility is that there was a supply interruption in his area that drove prices much higher than they needed to be. When the supply interruption was fixed, his prices would drop more quickly to where they would have been. A similar possibility is that your area is having a supply interruption right now and that interruption is keeping your gasoline from dropping.

In that case, another possibility is that the gas stations in your area just need more time to go through the expensive gasoline in their storage tanks.

I was in the mountains this week and paying $4.00+ per gallon, when I came home gas was at $3.77, when I left it was $3.99. I was so excited! The next day it dropped to $3.65!
I'm so relieved to see it going down!

It's rediculous in my town to have gas so high because our minimum wage is still $5.75 (we're so behind the times). Working part time I only get minimum wage myself and then having to spend almost an hour's worth of work on a gallon of gas just eats away at my wallet. I've pretty much stopped going out and having a social life because it is just too expensive.

this is pathetic that we're happy to see prices at $3.70-something. it just proves that their attempts to condition us to these high prices are working. i don't think we'll ever see gas back below $2.50 a gallon, and it wasn't more than a few years ago that $1.89 was considered high.

nope, we will never get back to that price. price of gas has gone down and demand for gas has as well. but not enough to make it go down back in the $2 range.
prices will probably level out for a bit around the price it is from state to state. im not sure about other countries tho.

I do believe there are 3.78 liters(litres) in a gallon, but it's still alot of money no matter the conversion.
