You slipped up on that one Paul. You know its supposed to be "my brother's girlfriend's cousin's teacher knows a guy who went to school with a person who lived next door to a guy who met the guy who invented it" No one is going to believe it when you say YOU knew the guy.

OMG...... I just checked and mine went up roughly $100 from last year in may/june. Oil powers everything, even nuclear power plants.... yippy.

Side note....

As I do treework and we average taking 400 yards a week back to the yard on a slow week, we have an over abundance of chips at times. We have a pair of truckers that we give chips to that run them down to Delaware to a power plant that burns 175,000 tons of chips a DAY so they told us. mind you each truck leaves with a trailer wieghing 85k which is the max aloud for them with overage.

I am doing my share to save oil ;)

They have been turning sod farmers into millionaires overnight in western North Dakota. They have been finding a ton of oil up there lately. Check it out. I am not even kidding.

For Paul:
As far as oil powering a Nuclear Reactor....... lol....who told you that nonsense? I happen to have been on a Nuclear Submarine (which by the way is Nuclear powered) and worked directly with the Reactor and secondary systems and I assure you we didn't need oil to power anything as we zipped around the oceans of the world. The only thing we used oil for was to lubricate bearings and reduction gears. The energy created by the nuclear reactor is singehandedly responsible for producing the steam that drives the shaft and spinning the generators that produce the electricity. The radiation didn't have anything to do with me not having any hair though... that's purely genetic :)

I read somewhere that oil is used in the production of electricity in a neclear power plant. Well that was what I was told, though I do sort of understand the neclear reactor from watching late night TV about Chernoble between billy banks and ron popeil infomercials back in the day.

Hey, I got it for 3.83 just last night. It seems like it's awfully high . . . but I guess our price is a bit better than what most folks are having to pay.

Nuclear energy requires uranium, which is also discovered, extracted, and transported using oil powered machinery.

Cool article...

I'm paying about $4.67 for regular gas here right now though... lol... $4.00 gas here was about 4 months ago. ;)

So what is it now... 13 days later? and now my gas is at 4.41/gallon. WEIRD.

not that I'm complaining about the price... I just think there is WAYY too much $$ from speculation added INTO the price at the pump.

Seems they are trying to get people to relax a little bit, for a little while.. only to jack up the price again and start this whole thing over once more. It's not like THAT hasn't happened before. LOL.

GRRRR.

eh... i have a + living in texas since we have comparably cheap gas. still, i have to buy premium gas which was... $4.16 at the cheapest station ive seen. paying that and getting 12-13mpg hurts. but its like my dad said to me... back when he was a kid and gas was ultra-cheap, yearly income was MUCH lower too. comparing it like that, gas is cheaper now than it was then.

at least, thats what he says.

gas just dropped a lil here in central maine... 4.02-4.04 a gal... well as of last night... who only knows come morning... but its been 4.09-4.11 here for a while... nice to see it go the other direction but i know it wont keep goin that way...

talk about a hard dose of reality... we have a walmart supercenter up here with a gas station... and the deal is if you use a walmart gift card at the gas station you save 3 cents a gallon... so thats what i do! well pulled up and saw 3.99/gal... wich means 3.96 with the walmart card... 48 dollars later to fill my lil focus... i realized how sad this was.... I WAS EXCITED TO BE PAYING UNDER 4 FLIPPIN DOLLARS A GALLON... ARG!!!:main_angry: sad sad sad... and to think of all the gripping i did when gas hit 2 bucks a gal.... man those were the days!!! :main_laugh: :main_rolleyes:

Hi all,
No offence to anyone, but you guys shouldn't complain at all.
I live in Belgium, you pay about 65$ per tanking I read somewhere in this thread.
For the exact same amount we pay 132$!!
Man Belgium is so expensive in every single way.
Anyways, I just had to say this, because I just came back from America and I noticed the price change very clearly.
Greetings Lode
