this hatclings was one of Zynxs I gave him to my friends for babysitting my gecko while we move. irrelevant but that was about 9months ago and it's dead.
about 10 days before it's death it started getting thin and wasn't eating for my friends, they didn't tell me till the day before his death but I knew they had just moved him into his own cage because they saw the one it was in with was also a boy, no fighting happened. I told them possibly stress
well when te day of his death they told me he eyes were sunken in and he was skinny I told them I don't know but maybe pictures would help. they said they would later. when they got back from work he was dead, sprawled out with blood oozing out of his mouth.

I say worms/parasites because although the tail and head were skinny his belly was fat and white but that's just a guess

but it's so weird because 10 days ago he was plump and fat and healthy. it happened so fast

variables-
they only fed him crickets
mealworms once from a petstore chain
they however did recieve mealworms from a lady o tried to save her three geckos and none made it and I blamed her mealworms
I told them this but they haven't touched the 5000 that the lady gave them, they are just breeding in another room.

she changes the carpets of all her geckos everyother day and cleans each cage once a week as well as soaks all cage supplies in hot water and sometimes soap

I have no idea what caused this

he was the oldest of zynxs babies so I'm worried it's genetic and her others will reach his age and then just up and die
oh and I took care of those three gecos way long after I had given my friends this gecko talked about

any ideas?

I don't think you have to worry about a genetic sudden death. I have had quite a range from an individual breeder's clutches, from large and healthy to small and healthy to failure to thrive.

This gecko sounds as if it was showing signs of going downhill for a couple of days. I actually lost a gecko on New Years Day that had no sign anything was wrong. She ate as usual, then about 10 minutes later I noticed that she'd thrown up the superworm --no big deal, it happens. But she was lying on her side in agony and died a short time later. Nothing really significant in the necroscopy that we could see except some blood in the abdomen. I actually wonder if she had an aneurysm. I'm sorry for your (and your friend's) loss, but I can't imagine that it was genetic.

I'm sorry for your loss. I just had a girl passed on without prior symtoms too. She was eating and healthy one day, and then dead the next day. Both my husband and I had been holding her the night before, nothing unusal was found - she came out to eat as usual; but then in less than 24 hours, her tail became deflated and her body bloated. She died hours later.

We're not getting post-mortem done, I'm just guessing that as sudden organ failure or rupture (I see black on the belly).
