Gecko noise?

So I had my not so little guy out of his tank today for cleaning because he is now too big to fit in his travel cup. He just sat in my hand the entire time and when he was put back in after cleaning he tried to climb up my arm.

So we have been sitting here with him on my shirt just chilling out for the last 10 minutes when he made a weird croaking noise. It was like a frog mixed with a chick but quieter. Has anyone else ever noticed their gecko making a noise like that? I assumed it was a "Hey, put me home" noise and put him back. I don't think its anything to worry about, but it sure was strange.

Yeah. Mandarin's more vocal than Tiamat, but if I move them in a fashion that they don't want to be such as flipping them over onto their backs, they start with the clacking. I've never had them bite me though...unless they mistook my finger for food. :p

Mine clicks at me if I keep him from crawling in the direction he wants to go, and he screeches if he's angry or afraid (when I first tried to pick him up, and when he slipped and almost fell of the edge of a flowerpot :laugh4: )

Yup, they do sound like a frog when they're not happy. Marly does it all the time - e.g. when I put him on my right shoulder when he wants to go to the left side instead...

Wow, thanks everyone for all the replies. Glad to get confirmation his little noise is normal. He's about a year and three months old and I guess he's grown some more over the summer :D.

Yes, one of my girls does the same kind of noise when I have to handle her and get her out of the tank because I have to clean it ... My other girl is not complaining and actually seems not to mind handling. First time I heard that sound I was really surprised and a little startled as well.

All of mine make noises from time to time. Had my little female squeek at me the other day because she was annoyed. Dante is very vocal when you keep him from crawling someplace he wants to go, he likes to complain alot some days:main_rolleyes:

Mine never makes any noise. at all. Well, once I heard her fart...or what I think is a fart because she was in her "poop" position with her legs up and then came the little noise and nothing came out and she walked away from her pooping area lol. it was strange.

But if she never makes a noise, it doesn't mean she's mute right? She just doesn't talk? lol
