Thanks!

The down side to the bonsai tree is that I can't seem to find them anywhere lol. Back when I lived in Miami, even my local supermarket sold some really pretty ones for not a lot of money. But here it may take more searching.

Small updates (no new photos yet, sorry!): I tried fitting it into the tank and hurah! It fits! My measurements were correct, so I don't have to touch the actual structure at all. However, I didn't account for the domes (dur) when I measured the height of the building, so I have had to change my plans when it comes to the roof decor. I will keep the dome in the middle, perhaps add smaller ones to each side, but I will not be making the little towers.

I bought the grout and the last pieces of wood detail, so I should be finishing most of it this weekend! Wish me luck!

with bonsai, you'd be surprised who sells them. Even Lowe's sometimes has them. It's better just to keep an eye out for small nurseries-most have bonsai.

I found one at Walmart last year.... around this time.... on clearance....
I have had bonsais before... I managed to kill....this one hasn't died, it has done really well.... everytime it loses its leaves they miraculously grow back!

Yes, when I finish the actual palace I'll decide what to do with the substrate and any kind of "courtyard" decor. It really depends a little on what kind of space I have left over after I've put in the food and water bowls, and then on the size of the actual plant because I don't want to hide any details that I've painted.

So yep. We'll see. I have to cover it in one more layer of grout and then I'll start painting :D

New photos!
I covered the thing in grout and then several layers of white paint. I'm actually rethinking the color at this point... I think it might paint it in a more natural color, like a stone tan or something like that. I don't know, I'm just going to leave it as is for now while I think about it.
