I'm looking for suggestions for a terrestrial gecko that is not bred much in captivity, where it would be beneficial for gecko-keeping and for the species to be producing more in captivity. Any ideas?

As far as terrestrials go, you're a bit limited, as most of them are fairly commonly bred. I've got a few suggestions though:

Banded Geckos
Frog Eyed Geckos
Cave Geckos(becoming rather popular but could still use more breeders out there)
Australian Velvet Geckos(these are awesome, and theres even an Amel morph)
Homopholis

Just a few off the top of my head that aren't all that commonly available cb.

Oh forgot one, even though they're semi-arboreal I think more people should work with Bent Toed Geckos. They're hardy animals and very interesting, and cbs are virtually non-existent.

Thanks. I already work with banded geckos (C.v.v.). This isn't a real plan yet. I still love my leos but I'm having such a harder time selling them this year than every year previous, even last year when I produced twice as many as this year, that I'm getting nervous about it. I asked about terrestrial geckos because I'm not in a position to retrofit to arboreal. It may be a transition I make some year in the future.

Only amendment I'd make is strike Oedura (Australian Velvet Geckos) and Homopholis from the list, as neither are terrestrial in nature.

I'd recommend Frog Eyed Geckos (genus Teratoscincus) as they are both rewarding captives and quite rare in the hobby still (as CBB that is). There are 5 species available with CBB offspring being offered irregularly. If you're willing to put in work with some imports, I'd say these would pay off in the long term. That said, "Frog-eyes" have never been mainstream, so you have to keep that in mind with how large of a breeding program you intend to set up. The average person will always lean towards the wrecked $15 import as opposed to the solid $50 CBB animal. Sad nature of th beast...

what about Chondrodactylus angulifer?

Really cool geckos! I love mine. I would also suggest helmeted geckos (Geckonia chazalia). They are the favorite terrestrial species I breed. There are also a ton of Diplodactylus geckos, Pachydactylus geckos, etc... Many of these are NOT "commonly bred", and could certainly use some dedicated breeders to work with them.

Thanks for all the replies. I will look into some of these species. I don't know whether I"ll be doing this in the near future. It would require my cutting down on leopard geckos and even though the market is flooded and they're "common", I still love them too much to stop.
