Geckos stopped eating

For the last two week, my two leos are only eating about one cricket each every second day. They're both very active and the temperature didn't change (90-92 degres). They used to eat about 6-7 crickets every second day as they have a HUGE tail. I just wanted to know if there's something I could do.

How old are they and how long have you had them? One thing to try for now is to feed them every 3rd day and see if they eat more. If they are juveniles and getting up in the 30-40 gram range they may be going through a major appetite decrease as their growth slows. If they are maturing females they may be ovulating.

They're both three years old female and I have them for about 8-9 month. I'm a 100% sure they're female so ovulating isn't a posibility.

Actually ovulating is a possibility with females. If you've had them about 9 months, it may be that this is the first time they're ovulating while in your care. Many of them do ovulate even if there's no male around. In any case, I recommend you feed them every third day, which is what I do when it's not breeding season and they may be hungrier.

haha sorry when you were talking about ovulating I was thinking about beeing gravid. So yeah, you were saying that when they ovulate they could lost their appetite? They still didn't ate yet and have lost a bit of weight. They're still in a healty weight tho. I'm gonna try to feed them in three day if it's what you were suggesting.

Females don't need to be with a male to be gravid but yes they can be carying infertile eggs and you will need to provide them with a moist hide filled with a medium(sphagnum moss, vermiculite and others)pick one and the eggs would be infertile as they were not breed with a male.

I don't know if thise helps, but everytime I dust my worms with calcium, the geckos don't eat as many. If I feed them normal worms, or ones with vitamins, they fo right after them, but don't really like the calcium ones. I keep a calcium dish so they get it from there. I just have picky eaters.

My little girl eats like a lion!! Shes little piggy, lol:main_laugh: But yes, females can be carrying eggs even if they have never bred with a male, just like female birds. And yes, some do stop eating all together while they are ovulating, they kinda get like humans, women are like that too, we get moody. So its like your leos are PMS-ing while they are ovulating. PMS...gerrr lol:D

Since I only had them for 8 month (they're both 3-4 years old) I never been apart of them ovulating. They were BIG eaters. But for the last three week they're still aren't eating much (around one crickets/mealie 3-4 days). If they're ovulating, how long did it usually take to lay the non fertile eggs?

Thanks

They are eating both the crickets and the mealies? those amounts sound pretty normal...if I am reading correctly.

It was one cricket or one mealie every 3 to 4 days. I think that one of them didn't ate all. They usually eat 5-6 crickets each every two days.
