GoodBye Sheba Sue

Sheba passed away this morning at around 10 am

I chose to dig her grave myself and I buried her intact in the backyard
It was the type of closure that I needed to be able to deal with her loss-rather than cremation

Sheba had one hell of a heart
She fought that cancer longer than I ever thought would have been possible

To say that she will be missed is an absurd understatement but I only have words to use to describe how very much that I loved that Girl

I am going to buy a flowering bush tomorrow to plant on her grave

I know that it will take a while for the raw emptiness in my heart to heal and I can only hope that the 8 years of wonderful memories of the time that we had together will gradually fill the void and lessen the ache for her loss that I now feel

She is at peace and is no longer in pain and that is a very good thing

Rest In Peace My Little Girl

Thank you both so very much

I am keeping busy doing my chores until I fall into bed and pass out from exhaustion

I have been grieving for her ever since I found out that she had bone cancer 14 months ago with knowing what was to come

It is a big relief for me to have her at peace

I hope that does not sound crass and unfeeling but I feel as if I no longer share her pain

Sandy, my heart is aching for your loss of Sheba Sue. What a lovely memorial you have created for her! I can only imagine the empty hole in your heart... like something has a grip on your gut and won't let go. The love between ourselves and our animals is a connection that is unsurpassed, and only those of us who love our animals can truly comprehend. God has given us a great gift with our creatures.

I am happy you had the wonderful years with her as your beloved companion, and deeply sorry for the empty place in your life that is left from her passing.

Rest in Peace, Sheba.

Thank you so very much Andrea Kelli and Marcia

I have to add the very strange thing that happened to me today after Sheba passed

I opened my front door and one of my cats ran outside on the porch-jumped off and caught a baby bird

I ran after him and was able to get the bird away from him
The cat had the fledgling by the wings instead of by the body and thankfully there was no harm done

I now have a fully feathered Robin baby that I hope to feed for a week or so until she is ready to be released
I have rescued many baby birds over the years and some make it and some do not
I will do what I can for this one and hope for the best as it is just my nature to do so

Life can be very strange with what God hands you..........

Thanks so very much again for all of your support
It is appreciated more than you can ever know

Sandy

Sandy, I know that Sheba will be eternally grateful for that extra 14 months of love that someone else might not have given her. I empathize with your feelings grief and relief. I felt that way the day Penny lost her battle with Cushing's. Don't feel guilty for any feelings of relief, as you said, most of your grieving has already been done. I know that memories of the happy times you shared will live in your heart forever. Take care of that little Robin.

Thank You Everyone

Thank you all so very much for all of your support
It means so very much to me

I planted flowers his year-I couldn't find the type of bush that I was looking for and I wanted to do it today

Now keep in mind that I am not a gardener
I love flowers and plants but I probably have not purposely planted anything in over 25 years

I went to Wal-Mart today and bought some plants-snapdragons-Dalia's and Zinnia's and one beautiful Lilly and here is her flower bed

There are most likely too many plants -too close together but I will tend it and remember her with much love
Thanks again everyone
Sandy

PS-Here is a pic of the baby Robin who I am going to feed in a few minutes and then crawl back into bed for a much needed nap
This baby bird is actually standing in my palm and opening her beak for me to feed her and she is very strong
maybe just a week or so from being able to fly

Life is pretty weird sometimes.........but helping this little one makes me feel really good

Sandy, I am so sorry for your loss. I have followed Sheba's story for a long time. She fought for so long, and now she is in a better place. I know how horrible it is losing something so close to your heart. You are in my prayers. And Sheba's burial site is gonna be gorgeous after everything grows in.

Thanks SO much Jess

Unfortunately the baby bird died last night but I was not surprised

Very few of them make it that are out of the next and not flying

I tried...........and I'm OK with that

I really look forward to seeing the flowers grow

Sorry to hear about the baby bird :( but you did what you could, and I'm glad you are okay with it

I can't wait to see how they grow for you as well, I'm sure they will all bloom gorgeously (is that a word?) for you!

I'm so sorry for your loss! She looks like she enjoyed life, which is all you can ask for. You gave her a full, happy life and she passed happily into a painless life. I know how you feel. When I was 8, I had a dog named Sheba. I woke up one morning and she was throwing up all over the floor. She wouldn't stop and we had to take her to the vet. She passed there, but I know she is hapier where she is and she will be in no more pain.
