I just recently got a halmahera and im feeding him baby food and crickets, however i have cgd i want to feed him but since its my first gecko i cant seem to get the consistency right, any tips with how i should mix it would be appreciated. I also would like to get a female for him but I'm worried that if they don't like each other i wont be able to keep them together, is it possible to get them used to each other or no?

I'm telling you now before you hear it in a different way. Do not. Feed any gecko, reptile in that case, baby food. Baby food is formulated for human beings. It has terrible amounts of by products so it lasts, and it's LOADED with sugars and artificial flavouring. This will become addicting in a reptiles diet. Once this happens you will have quite a hard time leaning them off the baby food.

The MRP either clarks or repashy work great! It's everything they need in a stable diet.

The directions state 2 parts water 1 part diet. I tend to let it sit for 10-20mins while I'm misting tanks, when I return it's a lot more mucky. If this still doesn't work, too much water may have been added.

Pairs that are incompatible should be housed seperately. If AFTER QUARANTINE the geckos dont get along they should be housed individually permanently. You cannot force them to be compatible.

No need to show attitude guys im new to this, quarantine can mean a multitude of things in different situations i figured it'd be simple for you to type out a couple of words on the meaning of it in this situation. Thanks for finding google for me though that must've taken you as much time as explaining qarantine.

The purpose of this forum is not for answering basic husbandry questions. It is very frustrating when someone who already owns an animal has not done their homework and learned the basics of reptile husbandry. Quarantine is reptiles 101(or animal keeping 101, for that matter). Anyone who has purchased an animal and who has done their research before doing so(as they should) should be familiar with the term.

okay i believe the purpose of any forum is for help. this person is asking for help and additude is not needed he is asking before he does it. hes trying to be informed, he is informed about the animal hes just not informed with quarantining. if you do not have any helpful information then why reply to the thread at all? any forum is for any type of questions simple or difficult to answer. hes coming here for help, you dont want to scare anyone away from asking simple questions and then they make a mistake and the animal pays for it in the end. hes being smart and coming here and asking questions before doing anything wrong.

The purpose of this forum is to have people who have geckos come together and share their knowledge....or so i thought. I did do my research on the animal i got, i know what to feed him, i set up the tank properly, i mist etc. And i am getting another one and this is what I'm doing i'm doing research on it before im getting another one so im asking people who already know for advice because its more accurate than reading random internet sources.

Okay, I apologize for the snarkiness.

But really, you could have at least googled it yourself and come back to ask more questions if you needed clarification.

I don't mind helping people. But it helps if you don't expect everything to be handed to you without investing a little of your own time first.

Generally speaking, you should have a separate enclosure to quarantine anything and everything you add to your collection for 60-90 days, bare minimum. If you reuse the same quarantine setup, it must be sterilized between quarantined creatures. Then worry about compatibility issues. Okay?

people expect to be given the answers instead of going out and doing research themselves. you didn't even know what QT was or that baby food was not acceptable, that is basic knowledge that you should have known BEFORE getting the animal. now that you do not even know the basics you want to get another and breed it? what the hell are you thinking?

You did not do research if you are feeding baby food. An research is not looking at a single care sheet. Before i got my geckos or my snake i did months of research and had all of what i need before I even got the animal. I understand why people are telling you to look stuff up. People expect stuff to be spoon fed to them now a days and not do anything for them selves.

Giabayb, did you create an account to rag out Rexx and robin?lol

They're deffidently some of the best in what they do.

I tried to be straight forward and sincere as possible knowing this was going to be the outcome. No one person is here to drive your feelings into the dirt. A lot of people here have been doing this their whole life, take what they say into consideration
