What can I do to help my dehydrated leo? I've been placeing her in the water bowl, and I ve been spraying the side of the tank for her to lick the water off (has licked it off a couple of times)

Thanks. I hope so to. All she does is sit there w/ her eyes closed (even if there isn't a light on because she's albino) and doesn't eat. She'll move spots every now and then, but everytime I check on her, she is asleep (day and night), and she looks so sad and unhealthy. I'm worried about her.

I have pictures up of her in the show off your leos section under "Update with one new addition" thread. Someone there told me she looked dehydrated, so I figured I'd start with that. It could be a different problem, or it could be more than one problem. I'll post some pictures here when I get home for lunch.

Here are a few pictures. I just weighed her again and she has lost .2 grams. I put in a wax worm to see if she would eat it, but no luck. Left it in over night.

Not good. I know you should never do this (ever)... but... you can open up her mouth and put a wax worm in her mouth (make sure she don't spit it out). If this is what it comes to, them please do this. Very gently....

She does look dehydrated. Get a stool sample analyzed (fresh) and ask the veterinarian to specifically look for Cryptosproridium as well...good luck with her. She's a pretty little girl.

What is cryptosproridium? Never heard of it.

What you may want to try is Marcia's Slurry recipe(located at the top of the health section of this forum). One of the ingredients is electrolytes, as well as it has a ton of nutrition in it as well. You can blend it up, and as long as you can get your gecko licking it, at least he/she is getting a little nutrition. Good luck! I wish I could help more.

usually when a geckos dehydrated I soak them in water for a half an hour or I dip my finger in water and put it on the geckos nose and it leaves a big water drop on the nose and they lick it off..

i've been soaking her for 10-15 minutes and putting the drops of water on her nose. Should I up the time to 30 minutes. Also, this might not be the only problem.

You could soak her in gatorade or pediasure/pedialyte also. It will give her moisture plus some vitamins and sugar.
You could also put her on moist paper towel instead of the reptile carpet. This way you can keep the paper towel nice and soft and moist and as she sleeps she is soaking up some water.
Id soak for 20 min, no more then 30.
Repti-aid is at petsmart and petco's and most pet stores.
If you force feed her just make sure you put the worm in her mouth, don't shove it down her throat, she should eat it on her own once it is in.

Hope this helps a little! Good luck

Edit: You dont have to force feed her the repti-aid. if you put the medicated water on her she'll soak it threw her skin, and put it on her nose and she'll lick it off...if you try it
