See if you can gently wipe the blood away with a wet paper towel. Then see if there's more blood, nothing or a body part.
More blood: keep him quiet and moist and call the vet as soon as you can

I don't think there's anything more you can do besides this (if there is, someone on here is sure to suggest it). I know it's upsetting and it's hard to wait and see what happens, but this is about all you can do right now.
